Heads up, apparently eB has a "listing team" taking down listings

My accounts were hit with a bunch of MC067 listing take downs recently and became curious. I always thought it was competitors, but apparently there is another force involved. Surprised I did not know this earlier and why this is never discussed on the forums.

I called in eB today on one of my accounts to ask them why I had been restricted and why my listing was taken down. The lady told me that eB's "listing team" started an investigation on my account. They took down the listing because it was priced under market value, they were worried how I was making a profit, where I was getting my items, there was not enough "description" (funny because I took such clear photos and listed the exact specifications and terms for every listing) and questionable authenticity. So I guess if you buy a pair of jeans at the mall and don't like them you can list it on eB for below retail and it will get taken down because it is not "authentic".

Now I'm no saint by any means, but authentic or not this is total BS. How many genuine listings have been taken down because of this team? Four of my accounts selling authentic material have been take down the same way, just more sh!# to deal with on top of competitors and buyers...

eBay has always used a shotgun approach to security. If innocent bystanders take a hit, that is a sacrifice eBay is willing to make.

I have to say, though, that listing multiples of items below market value DOES look suspicious. Yes, some sellers lose money to add a customer to their businesses, but that is becoming more rare.

Don't get me wrong, I am NOT taking eBay's side here. But if I were in charge of eBay Security and I wanted to get rid of sellers with questionable items, one of the red flags for me would be a price that is below wholesale. Also any messages from customers indicating the item was not authentic. And any negative or neutral feedbacks that said the same thing.

Listing team has been in existence for years.

Broadly speaking they may account for 70% of suspensions.

They have a remote connection to Trust & Safety.

Listing team is an active unit that do takedowns during peak business hours from what I have understood hence the quick listings that pop up on the weekends...

I used to think selling on the weekends prevented take downs, it probably does somewhat, but it's not bulletproof. I had two take downs recently one at 2am on a Saturday and one on Sunday afternoon.

I guess everyone knew about this already, pffft still learning new stuff after 3 years...

Was a time when a higher % of weekend listings 'survived' the bots etc.

The more listings that happened, the more it changed.

Agree about learning new stuff with stealth.

Have to be mindful all the time.

Great benefit of this forum is the exchange of ideas etc.

Ebay would lose to much profit to do that kind of stuff on a consistent level.

Risk vs. reward on their analysis - always new sellers stepping up to fill in the gaps of the market niche...
