Camera help plus photo questions
 

I have no idea about cameras and have just been using my iPhone. I have purchased a lighting kit but I am looking to buy a canera too. I prefer not to spend much but if I have to then I will.

Can anyone help. Would a $100 compact camera do or am I better off getting a srl camera for taking eBay photos. I don't sell anything shiny, mostly small products like phone accessories and other items maybe a4 sized.

Been researching with no luck. Any help will be very much appreciated

what kind of iPhone do you have??? I remember taking a few pics with mine before and came out GREAT! If you have a 4S or iPhone 5 you should be fine! and you should be fine with the lighting kit :)

I just have a regular iPhone. So you think a average compact digital camera will do? I mean its better than iPhone ? Also I prefer to keep my phone for personal use taking pics of kids

It will do. Just do a search on google about lighting. Lighting enviroment is the key.
And learn about the camera settings too

If you use your phone, make sure to wipe the data off those pics....

Thanks I do do that. Just still confused what to buy. I won't be using my phone anymore. My phone is always at risk as kids take it when I am not looking lol

I just purchased a GE X400 on ebay for around $50, had a small scratch on the lcd, nothing fancy or spectacular but it works perfect.

I just bought a $99 dollar Nikon...takes great pics......but how do you take the date off? and is is really that important??

Answer: Depends on how paranoid you are.
Personally, I rather not have any info saved on the images I may use across multiple accounts.

Yes, but do it right the first time and you'll have an excellent listing pic for a long time. Quality photos go a long way in convincing buyers to even open your listing in the first place.

Photos are the key to selling your merchandise. This is where you should put the effort into.

I remember the time before digital cameras came into effect when I would take pictures, develop the roll, scan them into the computer and then do all the cropping, resizing, etc.

So many tools nowadays to help make listing more efficient.

I am sure a handful of people remember those days.

Lol not really. I am going to exchange it today because the battries r not rechargeable and have changed it twice in one night !

Hi so I have taken many photos for my listings but I am little paranoid. I will be removing all data from the photos but will I get linked from the name on each photo or folder

If you use the same photos on multiple accounts, then it COULD happen. I would change the photos for each account. The names are easy enough to change.

Keep one only for your business - write off as expense :)

As jeffweico suggested, easy enough to name the images differently for peace of mind

Thank you. How about the file name. Say the file name is hats and it contains all different kinds of hats. Would eBay be able to tell if it came from the same file after removing all data from photos

No - after removing all data, you would be fine.
