If you go through with this, you might want to - if people ask - tell them that you are the store MANAGER rather than the owner. Why? Because many people will come in asking for donations for community events, kids sports teams, school fundraisers, etc.

SO TRUE... I have found those who are proud and admit they are the owner will not be the owner for long.
LOL

An employee doesn't have the vested interest in each sale. So the customer will not beat you up on prices so much "if you don't have the authority" to adjust the price.

We even staged phake calls to the "owner" some times to get a sale. Make the phake guy on the phone the bad guy and "I'm just an employee".

Love the analysis jeffweico - ugh ...food industry and body hygiene issues...disgusting but true

I've found a shop in not the best area of town for £7500 per year and I could mak. Smaller offer.

Pretty busy area but risk of being shot haha

Also something to think about is what you are selling.

Has anyone with the type of product been successful in your town before?

Any closed stores selling similar etc.

I know many who have owned and operated a brick and mortar and it is extremely time consuming.

It has to be well worth your time to attempt this.

If you can match any forecast sales online I would say no to it. If you can double/triple your profits then it might be worth a shot to try it.

Lots of responsibility goes into running a brick and mortar.
