Using Inkfrog on new account.

Getting ready to launch a new account and thought about using inkfrog simply because it makes a nice pretty auction. I wouldnt be using inkfrogs pictures, too scared to get linked, but do you think inkfrog would automatically think something was wrong with a new seller using a paid auction service?

A good first move is to search the forum with "Inkfrog" as term - lot of posts come up with reading to do:

EBay Suspensions Forum and Paypal Limited Froum - Search Results for inkfrog

Then you can move from there :)

ebay doesn't have to resources nor the motivation to even think twice about a new seller using a listing service. You may get a mc999 as being a new seller, but inkfrog or auctiva won't be the reason why.

Don't link your inkfrog with multiple user accts though, that will 100% link you through ebay.

You can have as many inkfrog accts as you like, but just get a photo cleaner that's how they link you.

Yes, as long as the inkfrog accts are separate and not linked through 1 inkfrog account.

How would they be joined if each has it's own ebay email?

JamesNorth101 08-08-2013 02:28 PM

It is conceivable that on InkFrog you can get linked though the image hosting that they use as the image URL has your username in it.

If you do not use their image hosting, and you make sure that you have a new IP when getting the token the first time, and when getting it renewed then you are fine to have several eBay accounts linked into one InkFrog account

That covers it.

Whether or not ebay will link you can not be told, but it does 100% leave a linkable trail if they ever decide to use it.

I would never risk my accounts with inkfrog.

OP as James has pointed out, there is an image URL that may cause linkage.

For myself I do not use multiple EB accts within 1 inkfrog acct.

I do however have two of my accounts each with separate Inkfrog accts.

I do this just for testing purposes with accounts.

Overall I list directly with the bulk of my accounts.

I have been using Inkfrog for 2 years on many accts. I clean photos every time. No links

And it may never link you, but click your photo's properties on the different accounts that are linked through the same inkfrog.

They will all show the main username on the account through the address.

Very easy for ebay to link if they ever decide to do so. You never know when they may start getting smart.

Hercules 08-09-2013 05:31 AM

I believe they are marked in Inkfrog that way because they are stored there.
But you can't see what ebay can see.
Then what's the point of cleaning the photos in the first place?
Why has cleaning the photo's helped to eliminate the link?
This has been discussed and tested hear in the forum.

In the past people were getting linked. The forum members suggested cleaning your photos. Problem solved. So you think ebay said to themselves ' I won't look any further?'

We're not talking about the exif tag information. The URL address of the embedded images contain the same inkfrog user name.

Ya, I was pretty surprised when I first noticed it a few years back. I discovered it pretty quickly the first time I linked two eb accts to inkfrog. I did my little test investigation and it was the first thing I checked and there it was plain as day. It might have already been posted on this board before I saw it, but I don't remember seeing it when I searched inkfrog back then.

Maybe they don't do it anymore, but I would bet they do. Ebay hasn't thought to check it, or they don't care, or possibly they don't want to target inkfrog, maybe they have a mutual benefiting business relationship.

Regardless, I keep my accounts separate in every way. Imagine if you were using a bad technique on all your accounts, and one day, ebay wakes up and decides to mc999 100 of your accounts? To me, these risks are just not worth my livelihood.

Hercules 08-09-2013 11:18 AM

So where/how do you find this URL address?
Can I find it just surfing ebay for any seller that's using Inkfrog?

If you have two ebay accounts linked through the same inkfrog account, then click on the photos in your listing.

Not the photo's in the ebay gallery, but the photos they embed in your description.

They will all have the username of the inkfrog account. Even though your ebay usernames are separate, inkfrog's images all have the url of the main inkfrog account that you use to login with them.

click the images and look at the url in your browser, or right click properties to see it.

Old thread, you guys are talking about pictures embedded in your description as HTML is that correct, this has the ink frog user id, single one user id. Nowadays, everything is on ebay's 12 photo gallery on the upper left corner, didn't see any of my user id on there. I even clicked on view source, hit the command f button, typed the first few letters of my screen name/ ink frog I'd, couldn't find it, so I guess we are still safe?

No, its worsened since there have been some policy changes which mean they divulge your details to ebay (for promotional reasons). Theres another thread on here discussing it in detail.
