| john456 | 08-18-2013 08:02 AM | account unsuspended Wanted to share this experience that happened last week.
I got a MC999 on a new account I was testing.
Called ebay, answered all questions. At one point, I was asked if the rep could call me back. I said yes no problem.
eBay phone call comes in.... my phone froze. Impossible to answer the call so I missed the call. I waited a little bit, hoping rep would try again. Nothing. Instead I got an email saying my ebay account was suspended.
I felt so stupid. I rebooted my phone and called back eb customer support to explain the situation. Second rep was super rude pretty much telling me to go check out amazon, we don't want you anymore, decision is final, bla blah. I asked if I could talk to a supervisor. She said 'it won't change anything, have a good day and hanged up'.
I called again. 3rd rep was much nicer. She listened and actually cared. She re-ran the verification and asked me to call me back. This time I was able to pick up the call.
She said everything looked good and she un-suspended my account.
Key take away:
* Make sure your phone works great before you call ebay :p
* Only call when you absolutely have too and be mentally ready. Fumbling in one of the step can cost you your account. |
| GreenBean | 08-18-2013 08:32 AM | Is this some new script?
Telling sellers to go to amazon?
Disturbing.
 |
One more takeway:
A LOT can depend on the agent you receive - if you get a rude one, let it go and call back - this has been noted by quite a few users
I wonder if the rep remembers that all phone conversations are being recorded...that agent is a bonafide loser rep - he should be tossed if he keeps repeating this |
| john456 | 08-19-2013 12:50 AM | No I have heard it before last year.
It will come back to haunt ebay
thx

| GreenBean | 08-19-2013 04:50 AM | Sorry, I do not understand.
I recall you said when you got suspended before joining the forum the comment was made ' go to amazon'.
Now you mention dealing with an MC999 on a new account. You repeated the amazon comment.
I thought the staff had repeated this comment as this account was discussed.
Hence it would be disturbing...
:spy: |
| Rambo3 | 08-19-2013 05:01 AM | For some reason this post made me think of something.
I have seen people on here who talk about managing 20+ accounts and so.
when you mentioned call, i quickly thought about these people
Are they walking around with 20 trac phones
even if they use VOICE
are they walking around with 10 phones??
What are they doing?
Either way, you cant just activate voice, verify and then cancel it and move on to the next... cause ebay calls you every 3 months... They say it is for account review on lifting limits, which i believe to some extent, but also i think it has something to do with cracking down on stealth accounts...
Im sorry is this off topic? |
| Rambo3 | 08-19-2013 05:02 AM | By the way good advice.. will keep that in mind.. I remember actually speaking with a rep once who was very nice, and gave me even advice on selling certain things on ebay.. hung up the phone...
Automatic 10/$1000 to 150/$5000 lift
5 minutes later
1 week selling restriction!
So it goes both ways |
| john456 | 08-19-2013 12:28 PM | Sorry I was not clear. The account I am talking about here is a new account I created last week. The new account went through these states in 2 hours:
active -> MC999 -> suspended -> active
When I called and the account was suspended, the mean second rep told me that ebay does not want to do business with me anymore and I should go sell my stuff via another online platform like amazon.
I had another account suspended back in November, I heard the same thing from 2 different reps when I called. "Go to Amazon". Quote:

| john456 | 08-19-2013 12:33 PM | I have had the same thing happened to me 2 years ago a new account I created. I was not thinking stealth yet so I reused some old info.
I called for limit increase, got a nice rep and was able to lift limits. 30 minutes later my account was suspended because it was linked to an old suspended account.
thx

I can usually tell within a minute or two if the rep is good or bad. If I think the rep isn't going to help me, I make up a quick excuse "I gotta go, my son just fell off the swings, my food just caught fire on the stove, my dog just got out the front door. . .etc" Whatever gets me off the phone quickly. I'll then call back and see who I get next.
I've had ebay reps tell me I needed to jump through hoops, while the next rep will lift the restrictions in 2 minutes. I've had paypal reps tell me they need my SSN, while the next rep fixes it without hesitation. It's all up to their discretion many times. |
| john456 | 08-20-2013 12:22 AM | Good tips Corleone.
I was floored to see my account suspended for me not being able to pick up the phone on time. It could happen to anyone. When I call back to fix the situation, I am told to go to Amazon and hanged up on... Fantastic first negative impression if I was a first time ebay seller.
One day... One day... eBay will regret keep telling good hard working sellers to go to the competitions for fumbling on their shaky verification system and bad reps. |

Perhaps newjerseymax has a better service that may be slightly cheaper but works just as well john456 |

Simple outright suspension for a missed phone call.
(Side note that amazon have a worse trick. They have been noted to make calls in the middle of the night regarding the account. When that call is missed, account suspension happens.)

Its a personal preference....
You do get to the point that you streamline as much as possible to max-out the time you have to spend it on other money making ideas that will surpass the $40 a months spent. |

:focus: | PURE INSANITY
Are you expected to live glued to your computer with phone in one hand and shipping label in the other? |
| GreenBean | 08-25-2013 12:22 AM | Such are the games of these companies.
Keep playing them better.
