Default Question about links between computers on a home network

Yet another non-techno-dufus question from me....

I operate on the main computer in my home, I am the administrator, the modem and router are attached to my computer. There are two other computers in the home, one desktop, one laptop, neither of which I actually do any ebay business on, although in the past, prior to suspension, I may have logged onto ebay from either computer to check on auctions or answer questions. But have never actually loaded any auctions or stored any pictures on those computers.

Now, they all operate on wireless receivers which, if I've got it straight, receive their signal from my computer's router or modem, whichever. Their ip addresses change each time I change mine? Right? I'm assuming this because if someone else is on and I'm unplugging and replugging for a new ip, they end up in my office sometimes asking about their connection.

Just checking, I think I've entered a whole new realm of hyper-paranoid.

Right, whenever you change your modem ip address, the other computers that use that connection will have to configure their computer to accept the changes. All computers using your router share the same IP address.

I have several dial ups, a high speed connection and road runner giving me unlimited IP numbers. I have tracked them ( dial up ) for more then a month and put them in excel spreadsheet and not a single duplicate.

This is what dial up does for you, slow but very useful.

Maintain great paperwork and notes and you will have no problems unless you make a mistake.
