What phones work with Paypal verification?
 

I see a lot of threads on this topic but no real solution. I am only concerned with Paypal - not Ebay.

My understanding is that Paypal has a more sophisticated phone verification system in place compared to Ebay.


I have personally tried Google Voice and Tracfones and neither work for me for Paypal phone verification.

Does anyone else have a solution besides getting another landline or mobile phone (which I am trying to avoid)?

There's something you're not disclosing. Why would you need a phone to verify your Paypal account?

Let me back up. The reason why I am asking is b/c I am creating a dummy Paypal account - not under my name.

I am using this account to make purchases online. I am able to select Paypal Checkout and make a few purchases with no problem but after several purchases, upon selecting Paypal Checkout, Paypal will say that they need to call me for verification.

Their verification system is automated but Google Voice and Tracfone do not work for this (I have tried it).

My personal numbers are tied to my real Paypal account, so I need an alternative phone source I can use that Paypal's automated phone verification system will call.

If you say you have read threads that give the reason, please share it with me. I have combed through the threads myself and have only found solutions related to Ebay but not for Paypal.

And have you verified your Paypal using a VBA?

Yes - I am not talking about verifying the Paypal account. I have already successfully linked both a prepaid card and a bank account to the Paypal account and removed the spending limits in the process.

What I am talking about is Paypal's automated system stepping in during a purchase upon checkout and wanting to call me in order to verify that I am the person making the purchase.

It is just an automated call where they give me a set of numbers and I have to enter the code to prove that I received the call.

I just need a way to provide them a phone number that their system can call me with.

As I mentioned before, their system is sophisticated enough to recognize that I am using Google Voice or a Tracfone - and neither will work. Anyone have any other solutions?

You are doing something to get this message then.

No need to verify a pp account by phone but if you are getting this message only when you withdraw then something you did with the account is drawing attention. Such as withdrawing lots of money, withdrawing too quickly etc.

Try Textplus app for the smartphone?

I have not tried Textplus. Can you please confirm if it works with Paypal phone verification?

I know that Paypal's request to call me to verify has to do with the amount of money I am spending out of my Paypal account each day - but regardless, I still just need a number I can give Paypal that their automated system will call.

As I said before, it will not call a Google Voice number or Tracfone numbers - so I am just looking for some other options besides having to get a landline (which I am trying to avoid).

Marcelo, sometimes you have to be a big boy/girl and try stuff out for yourself. Try rsot's idea and report back.

I`ve got faced EXACTLY the same sitatuin of Marcelo.

The phone verification were requested on my FIRST purchase attempt. tried also googlevoice without success.

I`ve tried found out some suggestion on this forum however I`m still having problem with that.

ps: the account is not linked to ebay... only pp but is also fully verified

Im in Puerto Rico and google voice and most VOIP services do not work down here cuz they wont give you an area code(if they do you have to pay). So when this happens for me which is a 10 out of 10 (maybe cuz im in Puerto Rico) I have some redpocket sim cards standing by and use them. just make sure the area code matches with the address and you will be good to go. you can also use flynumber they have worked like a charm so far.

Paypal in USA, will sometimes greet you with a screen stating:

"you need to add a mobile phone to your account"

if you answer, "I do not have a mobile phone"

you get an almost identical page stating:

"then verify your current phone"

no phone nr seems to pass this verification if it is not connected with your name and address in public records. No Google voice, no Ring Central, no internat phones, no Skype, nothing. Only the number in the phonebook ( I tried this with my main PP account, which has my landline phone nr, and it worked)

You can click the small paypal icon in the uppr right to bypass these screens and go to your account overview, but these threat screens never go away on subsequest visits.
It suggests the account may be compromised or risky to use.

As long as you just bypass it the account is ok, they are trying to push u so u can do mobile payments, just every once in a while u get that one screen just skip and don't hit no mobile phone

Happened with me quite a number of times when I move my money from stealth pp to real pp account !
The phone verification does not bypass with any system like googlevoice , phone.com , etc.
But recently , When PP asked me for the phone verification , I clicked "Cancel" button , and then it navigated me through a new page where it asked me to answer my security questions , and when I answered them , the payment went through :D
But this navigation does not occur always !
Like in 10 times when i tried , happened for me 2 times.

Better yet...you should stop doing this...eventually PP is going to limit both accounts, just a suggestion.

I know , but I have no other option transfering funds to me.
I live in India , so I cant have a real bank account in US :(

Any suggestions or ideas you ppl have for me , about transferring funds to myself from my stealth pp account ?

Look into getting a Payoneer card - google Payoneer and see if a card can be sent to you
