new mc999 or whatever..when do we NOT get this?

1 month old account, lots of browsing, tons of buying...after 1 month, I listed one item. It was then canceled 2 minutes later because it said it violated the selling limits. This was a item I made, nothing special and not vero.

The selling limits which only then appeared to me said $0 and 0 items.

IT asked me to confirm id. Showed me my "name and address and phone". I checked box saying it was right, it said sorry we can't confirm your id. What's this about?

And now what? The only other option it gives me is to call to discuss my selling plans.

Does this happen every time you list 1 item, on every new acccount every time?

What do I do?

An0nym0u$ 08-29-2013 02:52 PM

This has been covered many times. Call ebay from a forwarding service (Google Voice works well).

Similar issue happened to me and I documented what happened here...

Happens a lot in US.

Give them a ring

Make sure you use a number not registered to another eBay/PP

amysol 08-29-2013 03:33 PM

OK, I tried calling like I did last time with my google voice using my google voice app, but now all of a sudden it won't make calls. It just says "calling you" and then you click ok and it goes back to dial screen. I can't figure out why.

But this is common? Just 1 item, and no selling limits?

GreenBean 08-29-2013 03:46 PM

Yes. eBay is changing the rules nearly daily.

Confirm if you had your PayPal verified?

:mod:

amysol 08-29-2013 03:52 PM

Yes, paypal was verified first.

GreenBean 08-29-2013 03:55 PM

New variation this.

Zero selling limits have previously happened when PayPal was not verified.

Further worry is your phone method not working

What type of address was used?

Yes it happens. The good news is, it is easily fixed by making a phone call to straighten it out.

Need to call in for mc999 but google relay # not working

The google voice from iPhone app relay number is not working. Google voice lady says call can not be connected. I don't know what to do. How can I make a call? I have 24 more hours left to call in.

JJGold 08-30-2013 08:28 AM

Go to your eBay messages and find the MC999. Open the message and it will give you the option of calling eBay or for them to call you. Have them call you. Problem solved.

MM78 08-30-2013 09:53 AM

I've done this method...works just fine.

amysol 08-30-2013 05:07 PM

There is no option for them to call me.

MM78 08-30-2013 05:10 PM

Have you tried logging off GV then re-logging back in?

Think the OP already tried a call

Think the option disappears then

Instead of a new thread you simply just add this to your existing thread of the notice
Done now.

Ok here are the details.

I had to log into google voice and verify my real number in order to get a relay number that worked.

I then called ebay on my account that is 45 days old. Has several bis made, and 3 items purchased, received, and +fdbk left for.

Lots of seller browsing history to "learn" how to sell.

Listed an item, an old banner from my garage.

I received mc999 almost immediately.

I called in with google voice app iphone. She asked how she could help. I told them I was new, I had been buying and I wanted to try and sell something so I listed a banner from the garage. I said I spent the last few days pull all the clothes from my kids closets that were too small and still were new with tags to sell but when I logged in to try and list a few my first item had been taken down and I got a email that said to call you...so I am not sure. She transfered me to trust and safety. I told them the same newbie act stupid story. She said from time to time we have new sellers verify their info and tell us a bit about their selling plans.

She asked what other items I had to sell. I said kids clothes, I said I make tutus and hair bows, I said books, and other things around here that we know have value but we just don't need anymore.

She asked how I ship. I said I don't know, I have not sold anything yet but I read that I could print a label from ebay for USPS so I thought that would be a good way to do it.

She asked what my phone number was.

She placed me on hold, came back and said my limits were now 25 items and $1250. She said this is the standard for new sellers and they reevaluate every 20th of the month. If they see good selling history they will be raised.

That was that.

I wonder, I want to sell jewlery that my friend designs. One another stealth account can/should I lean more towards I want to try and do a little side business selling my friend's costume jewelry, or should I always keep it at play dumb, sell stuff around the house for this mc999 process?

Grimmejaw 08-30-2013 07:05 PM

For your 1st item always sell a low risk item. In case you get mc999 for verification you won't have problem with ID. One time I tried to list my used game boy advance for my first selling item. Later got mc999, I called in and everything was normal at first until the rep ask for ID and fax in billing info. So if its high risk item they will ask for more info from you.
Hope this help.

I know this may be a new topic but...I use an auction of a very safe item. The last day I get the MC999 for this new acct.

What is odd is when I check to see if I've been flagged I don't even open the email I just look to see for the restriction header in my gmail.

The exact minute is recorded when this dreaded email appeared and that exact minute I went to check!!. This is on two accts I checked on their last 12 hours of the auction!!

This has happened on my last six accts I have formed. I don't need these accts but I don't like what I've been seeing so I like to be prepared for the worst. ( all verified, browsing....)

Hercules 08-30-2013 08:30 PM

Plus this happens no matter if there is browser history, buying feedback, waiting a month to sell or within a week of formation with none of that preparation..

Mc999 happening more & more frequently. I started getting them on 1-3 month old accounts that have already had a few 7 day auction run. All very low risk items. I personally think this is just becoming the norm.

I have been noticing that when you list new items it is taking 12-24 hours before they go LIVE. So they are manually screening every new item being listed!

Careful on the rumour - it is not a manual screening going on for every new item....it`s just a delay ....eB is full of glitches. Don`t cause a panic :)

turkeyhunt 09-03-2013 11:59 PM

I don't know your situation - but I have run into the same problem and the ebay rep was kind enough to ask if I had another account with the same name. I didn't, however, I had chosen a stealth account which had been used already.. :/.

Long story short, I had to answer some ID verification questions ( like previous address, car owned, height, etc ) . I still decided to not use it as I figured since that name had been used - it was bound to get limited sooner or later.

But as stated by a previous person on the forum, ebay is always changing their rules....

rsot 09-04-2013 01:31 PM

Always changing rules but also lots of glitches

Re: new mc999 or whatever..when do we NOT get this?

I never get an mc999. Why? Some luck but also I know what to list.

I have a thread with some info on it maybe you need to follow.

I list on several new accounts every Sunday night and do not get mc999s.

Why keep sticking your feet into the fire over and over?

Idea is to do things to avoid getting the mc999s?
