2 accounts restricted today, 8 months old

2 account, Mc999 restrictions today, One was only created in 6 month ago, Has been selling for 2 months, sold 2 items, (totally innocent things, low price) the other I created 9 months ago, that account has been selling since early spring, steadily, 6 items sold, again very innocent, non risky things, 5 feedback left 100% positive Feedback, my increases had made it to 80/$4000, Only 20 Items currently listed.

But I get a MC999 anyway, the eBay associate I spoke to on this one said that they are checking to see that banned eBay sellers are not creating new accounts (Lol) and that I knew how to ship my Items and that everyone that is starting a new selling account will have to speak with eBay.

I explained to her that I have already sold 6 Items & received 5 5 star Feedback scores, She Ignored this and continued as if I had never sold a thing and joined yesterday, This extra step is very annoying but seems to be fool proof If you just act like a new seller,

My worry is what is next??? Amazon has made it nearly impossible, eBay could too, But where would eBay be without banned sellers? I can spot a stealth account occasionally, If I can, than surely somebody at eBay is smart enough to as well.

They must know about this forum, I think It is just a matter of time before they turn the thumb screws. OR they will have no choice but to turn a blind eye to it all & just leave the window open enough for a slight breeze to blow through. :ranger:

It's my honest belief that the "higher ups" at ebay don't care about stealth accounts aslong as it's not fraud and scamming.

I guess this is proof that no matter how carefully you setup accounts that eBay can do whatever they want to whomever they want. Hopefully my accounts won't have the same fate.

Had 2 accounts receive the MC999 as well today on a 8 month old account (47 feedback) and a 5 month old account (23 feedback). The strange thing is that each occurred after I signed in to eBay then over to PayPal and did a withdrawal. These were back to back log in's then withdrawals. Hopefully just a coincidence and no linkage as I'm diligent logging IP's. We shall see.

my 2 happened after I logged in & re-listed unsold items after they had sat Unsold for about 1-2 weeks, no PP withdraw, But I re-listed items on maybe 15 other accounts also & no problem there,

I just saved an account that was restricted thats been selling for around 4 months 9 positive feedback and 5 stars but stopped on that account for 20 days.

I guess a new game to play.

I also just saved an account today that was restricted (MC999)

I called up the CSR and was transferred to their "Policy Department"

The rep in their Policy dept. told me that this is the normal process for sellers in order to validate their identity.

He put me on hold for about 5 minutes, came back and reinstated my account without me having to answer any questions (I thought that was odd).

Saved both. I love the option to select "call me". Really helpful when you have a call forwarding service.

Odd - reselling unsold items is not known to flag/trigger an account in any fashion

Two things:

1. eBay has too many sellers
2. eBay does not want fraudsters

So this make it harder for new sellers to become sellers.

rsot 09-03-2013 12:24 PM

Don't really find it any harder than before - just have to be wise about creation and "appearance" (look like you aren't a previous seller :) )

I try to make a point not to withdraw funds that become available too soon...I would think if I did a withdraw right after funds are available that eBay/PayPal would be suspicious and MC999 the account. So far, so good nothing has happened to any of mine yet. :humble:
