| | | zoneout | 09-08-2013 02:09 PM | Customer got my personal email address I am having one of those nightmare customers. First he put the wrong shipping address in the order. Complains he didn't get his package. Three weeks later he admits the address was wrong. So I send another to him at my expense. Three weeks later now I get an email from him at my personal email address - not through AZ. He says the item doesn't work and he wants to return it. I told him I will exchange it as it is past the refund period.
Anyway what gets me is how the heck did he get my personal email? I never gave it to him - AZ doesn't allow it anyway. I dont put any statements or any packing lists in with my shipments either. This guy is pure grief yet I am trying to keep it cordial as best I can. |
| TonyAlmeida | 09-08-2013 05:15 PM | That is weird. I don't see anyway he can get your email address unless you giving to him or you read it wrong. Or he is an amazon employee, a hacker (real good one), an CIA or FBI agent to track you down :)
Did you get his real email address??? |

Did you get his real email address??? | Yes his real email address is showing in the FROM field. Ya maybe you are right and he works for Homeland Security. |
Could he have googled you and found an e-mail to try? Stalkerish-style? |
| GreenBean | 09-08-2013 05:46 PM | Before you go the whole tin hat route, google to see if 'you' show up on the web.
There are serious implications otherwise.
:nono: |
| mercurial333 | 09-08-2013 06:00 PM | Happened once to me too.
The agents probably give them out, or just a glitch. |
| BigCJ | 09-08-2013 08:27 PM | I found this out with an order.
If you have tried to contact the seller/buyer a certain amount of times, amazon will use 'a' contact method to get in touch with the other person (ie:getting a personal email address, phone number)
In my case, I got the sellers phone number directly before I was allowed to open a claim. |
| TonyAlmeida | 09-09-2013 07:56 AM | Re: Customer got my personal email address Or you can ask him nicely that how he got your email personal email address?
We all want to know the answer :)
Thank you |
| GreenBean | 09-09-2013 08:10 AM | Re: Customer got my personal email address Quite a few things we want to know
The idea of a buyer coming to any seller after a long time and asking for 'help' is a worry.
What rights does this buyer think he has and why did he make the approach outside of amazon??????
How can there be any type of protection for the seller now?
Is this a new drama series?
Who needs a tin foil hat?
:faint: |

| GoteBay | 09-09-2013 09:10 AM | Re: Customer got my personal email address DO NOT reply through your personal email address. If he does not email via AZ, just ignore him. All business related communications should finish via a business channel. |
Re: Customer got my personal email address Impression is that OP has already replied GoteBay. |

Should report the buyer to amazon as well.
Buyer already damaged the account once.
Lot of harm with this.
:rip: |
Re: Customer got my personal email address True point - reporting the buyer for sure since this is a break of policy |
| zoneout | 09-21-2013 07:19 PM | Re: Customer got my personal email address OK folks, the saga continues....
Brief recap:
1) Buyer places order $300 item
2) I Send item and 2 weeks later buyer says didnt get it - tracking says refused
3) I ask him if somebody else refused it in his house - he says no.
4) I spend 3 hours of my time dealing with usps to trace package
5) Buyer leaves me negative feedback
6) Next day buyer calls Amazon CS and tells them his address is wrong in the order.
7) Couple days later the item comes back "return to sender - refused"
8) I spend couple hours phoning and emailing Amazon to remove the negative feedback since it was buyers mistake on the address. After 6 tries finally they remove it.
9) I send item back to his corrected address at my expense
10) Week later I get an email to my personal email from this guy - says he wants to return it as it "isn't working the way my old one used to".
10) Call AZ and ask them how this guy got my personal email - rep says they do not give it out.
11) I send email to buyer thru AZ saying he can return it for repair under the warranty - I send him a prepaid return label.
12) I get unit back today - look at it - it is not the one I shipped out. It is cracked as though he dropped it. In the box is a note that he is returning it for a refund. The note is written like he thinks I have a separate "returned item" depot and I guess he thinks the clerk there will just put through the refund.
So that's the happy recap... BTW - I googled for my address and although the domain naturally is there - the actual email address is not. So probably AZ did give it out. Maybe I will casually ask him.
Yeah... let me do that first before I tell him to go pound sand. :heh: |
| planes | 09-21-2013 09:03 PM | Re: Customer got my personal email address Had a similar situation with another moron. Sold him something he didn't read the description of and assumed it would work for him. He got it told me it was damaged(He damaged it.). Then that it wasn't the right one since it was different and he wanted me to tell him how to make it work. I told him I couldn't do that since how could I? He left me a neg and opened a dispute. Well he has to mail it back. Let's see what this package will hold. I had perfect FB 5s across the board. You know, it didn't faze me. One gets to know by experience that some moron somewhere will mess it up.
Another guy asks me today if a used item I am selling is perfect and will I take it back if it's not perfect. We know where this one is going so I say, I won't guarantee it's perfect because he's another moron who will in a month notice some minor imperfection on a 25 year old item and want to return it. |
