LLC account & SSN

Hello

I have been selling for a year using a busines eb/pp account that uses my legit LLC info.
I know have higer limits and I would like to push the account. I have the EIN ready in case pp asks for it.

what about SSN? Will I ever need a SSN? I read on the forum that pp might ask for it.

Has anyone been running a LLC ebay/pp account for a long time with only supplying EIN?

I am selling low-risk non vero.

thx
J.

You will need SSN if eB or PP asks for it - can never be 100% sure if they do.

Bottom line is that the SSN could be requested at any time.

Accounts running well have been able to offer an EIN & nothing else.

We have one such account from the olden days ( pre-stealth). EIN was sufficient for paypal.

It's all in the account operation, imo.

I have never been asked for an SSN on an account that has an EIN attached, but it DOES happen. I think the key is to keep your sales steady. You can increase them, to be sure, but you want to avoid any huge spikes. Of course, most accounts will sell more at Christmas and that is OK, but you want to avoid a 300% sales increase in one month.

My guess is that what triggers it is either WHAT is being sold, like if eBay was suspicious of counterfeits or stolen goods, or a huge sales increase trips a PayPal risk model and they want to run a credit check.

Again, this is my GUESS, I don't know this for a FACT.

@jeffweico

Increase in sales plus 'buyer mumblings' were behind one paypal request for a user. ( Not here any longer).

@jeffweico: how long have you been running your accounts with EIN without getting asked for SSN?

Since they started asking for the tax-id number. I never had an SSN request except on ONE new PayPal account and I ditched it. The others all have EIN's attached. But all of these accounts were built slowly, over time, and most of the items I sell are low-risk and low dollar amount goods. All eBay's are TRS accounts.

In other words, I do not believe that eBay or PayPal perceives me as a risk.
