How to create Windows users on External HD?
 

Hi -

I'd like to start creating new windows user accounts on an external HD.

Has anyone ever done this before? Is it possible? Will I need to install windows on the external and then boot from it in order to do this?

I'd rather not mess with the registry. Is there any other way?

I would use a SSD drive. Personally im going for Convertible Laptop. Woot has one right now for $599 which is exceptional price

Most external USB 2.0's are SSD's. I'm considering this option because it's cheaper than buying multiple internal drives and less hassle than switching them out every time.

1. You can use tools to use an external HD to boot Windows:
* Check out here: RMPrepUSB. Tons of ideas on how to boot for USB HD, USB drive, dual/triple boot, etc.
* I recommend using at minimum a USB 3.0 harddrive.

2. You can also install VMs on your external harddrive if your computer is beefy enough. You need USB 3.0 minimum here as well.

I have been using 1 & 2 depending on my projects
