Aging an Account - Buy Something?

Ran a quick search but couldn't really find anything.

I have 3 new accounts I am in the process of aging so I am going through the steps of making my account look legit (browsing, bidding, sending some messages, watch list etc.) but will buying something help?

My address is random but I guess if I buy something for a dollar or two from China they won't have a problem shipping it somewhere else. Of course I would email them directly and not change the shipping address on the checkout screen.

Some say it helps, personally I rather build seller feedback as fast as possible.

I probably should have mentioned I will be selling a few household items as well as part of the process but thank you for the feedback.

Selling household items is great. Some $$ store stuff too works. Buyers are happy making deals.

Buying does nothing in terms of aging a seller account.

I have had 1y+ buyer accounts. When I started to sell, I got a MC999/newbie notice. I called and they told me 'ah.. you are new to selling, welcome!'

I opened several new accounts and was selling in parallel to my primary account and never got an MC999. Hell I was selling high risk electronics on both those accounts for many months and not a peep from eBay - guess I just got lucky?

Exactly what I do.

When I buy an estate out or a ton of box lots at an auction I use these items for new accounts. Never an MC999.

I grow baby stealths into powerhouses by doing this and have for a long time now.

Be careful of emailing sellers, even Chinese. Some will not help.

What will you do regarding the address when the account is selling full time?

Have you a returns policy made yet?

Well if I don't get the item no big deal it was only for stealth reasons anyhow.

Not really sure I guess I will hope they send returns to the address I give them. Don't really have much choice since I bought the accounts and they come with random addresses.

Random address, selling high risk electronics, ...

You may get lucky for a while but eBay will catch up with you

If you plan on going into high-end electronics again, you should have the return address available for buyers...you were lucky a bit on the old accounts if you did not have too many returns

Missing the point....

You should be trying to make this purchased account a long term one.

Get the address sorted.

Sell like it is a non stealth account.

I agree but unfortunately I don't have access to many different products and my profit margins are good so even if it only lasts a few months it is well worth it. I will just keep buying new accounts and aging them.

I have a few options for new addresses.
