| | | shadows | 10-09-2013 11:10 AM | Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. Hello everybody.
First, I'd like to like to thank everyone on here for the tremendous amount of useful information I've found - some of which of I'm still trying to process - and for the helpful nature of some of the members I've already talked to. I feel very fortunate to have found this place, and the stealth guide it's built upon.
I've been trying to soak up all the info I can for the last couple weeks, and have most of the answers to my questions after a few searches. However, there are still a few issues I haven't found a resolution for, or just require a more elaborate explanation of.
Now, I realize I'm being a bit ridiculous when I ask this, but after reading about all the ways you can be tracked online, I'm feeling a bit weary of posting specific issues relating to my account...as if somehow eBay is going to identify me, realize their apparent oversight, then immediately drive the last nail into my account's coffin.
Am I being far too paranoid and worrying over nothing?
Thanks for any advice. |
BigCJ | 10-09-2013 11:22 AM | Re: Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. Never too paranoid.
And I'm sure that they are aware of what is going on (here and many other forums), which is why many methods of stealth become obsolete.
For the most part, ebay knows that people have multiple accounts and its not an issue.
The only thing that you really must remember is that we (the sellers) keep ebay afloat. It is not like amazon (Which could change over time) where they basically run themselves.
The sellers pull in a majority of ebays revenue. They put road blocks in our way, but they cannot totally STOP us or they would cut off their own head.
Just have accounts backed up and at the ready :thumb: |
Re: Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. Welcome to the forums shadows.
Post whatever you feel comfortable to post - no reason to be led into any other line of thinking.
All the best. |

That said, my post count is extremely low when considering the amount of hours I put into reading this site.
When I first got here I spent 16 days straight, about 8 hours per day, reading almost every post ever written on these boards.
I definitely read more than I post. |
Ukdirect | 10-09-2013 12:23 PM | Re: Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. I think it is safe to say eBay do look at this site, and also know that a lot of people run stealth accounts.
As long as they are offering good service and paying fees it's not a problem, they will be more concerned with the scammers etc just out to rip people off |
An0nym0u$ | 10-09-2013 12:54 PM | Re: Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. I honestly wish they did track this forum. Then they would realize how stupid some of their own policies are.
Some, even most of us on here, know how to properly run a successful ebay account better than most ebay employees.
eBay does not have the resource to go trolling the Internet for all forums/sites discussing their business practices.
God forbid they really learn what their sellers actually thought of some of their recent decisions. |

I've never used the official eB forums but I've heard from several sources that sellers are often banned from selling when they voice an opinion on eB's forums that is against the regime.
Sad, really. They have a forum and they not only censor it, but punish those who give their opinion. |

Even as far as some people calling to complain and the reps telling them that they are no longer needed as sellers and their accounts get suspended. o_O
But guess what? The BUYING portion of the account is fine. |

Sad, really. They have a forum and they not only censor it, but punish those who give their opinion. | They delete the posts at first.
Then ban.
Of course, you can pick 'their' people out too. |

Thanks for any advice. | Never put that much info out that could ID you.
Never fall for replying to the questions what do you sell, how much money is in the account and what category.
Bear in mind forum always recommends keeping your privacy. Post within those criteria. You should have few issues. |
JamesNorth101 | 10-09-2013 04:27 PM | Re: Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. No doubt they will keep an eye on this and other forums.
They would be daft not to.
So long as you don't post any personal information/IP address/user names/what you sell ect ect then you are fine. |
jeffweico | 10-09-2013 04:34 PM | Re: Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. Always assume that ANYONE can read ANYTHING you post ANYWHERE online.
If you want to complain about eBay, here or elsewhere, do NOT use your eBay user name as your forum user name.
NEVER post anything that could identify the accounts. Even something that does not identify you personally. For example, the statement "I am the only seller of the Princess Anne Crystal Figurines" or something like that could identify you.
Caution is always warranted when posting, especially in the public area of the forums. |
Mr. Invisible | 10-10-2013 08:10 PM | Re: Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. Hi guys... :welcome;
Just keep your specific business out the forums and you have nothing to worry about. |
Re: Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. Well stated Mr. Invisible - avoid lots of details or showing everything |
Cash4ME | 11-02-2013 12:44 PM | Re: Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. I read much and say little...You can bet that eBay has members in this (and other similar) forums. I will never trust eBay!:heh: |
Re: Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. Always good to keep some info private :) |
newjerseymax | 11-05-2013 07:48 AM | Re: Does eBay watch this forum? Paranoia over posting questions here. There is so much false info ebay would be chasing their own tails if they looked into everything posted here. | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:18 AM. | |
