Could be eBay is seeing GV recycled phone numbers from other suspended users. I had a bunch of emails this month from GV saying they were reclaiming my old numbers since I hadn't used them in a while.

Every single prepaid phone I use to create accounts ends up fine. If anyone ever gets the restriction using a actual prepaid phone and not a forwarding service, then please let me know, or the board know and we'll go from there. | I got an MC999 using google voice, but I got the softball questions, i.e. not the public database questions. So is this a random thing?
On another note, a previous account that got toasted, did get the MC999 public database question. That one I used google voice AND I accidentally logged into that account with an IP from my legit acct. That could have been many features that I got hit with the public database questions. GV + using previous used IP = public database questions?

The numbers are at&t so they should be stronger. Not sure if I should make a separate post about this, but I thought it can help some members here. | Does that mean you can use one device and just switch the sim cards or do you need a separate for each? Someone earlier mentioned Tracphone for $4.99 on Amazon but that is a seperate phone for each account which can become a hassle.

Not a hassle. I tape the acct name to the phone and use Velcro to stick the phones to my belt.

I think they are hitting accounts with a variety of triggers just to toss it up.
They know we are onto them but they dont know we have enough talent and bright people here who can always figure their game out and beat them at it.

But Sandy D is right. There are lots of factors. Browsing history, feedback as a buyer. How long you wait to register as a seller etc. What type of item you list. I don't think it is as simple as saying it is 100% based on GV or a forwarding service.

You all do know, that services exist, called "intellius" they can basically see who the phone is registered to, and when they do a search on the phone number and find out its registered to "Google" you have a problem. Not to mention Google Voice numbers are recycled.

I don't think it is as simple as saying it is 100% based on GV or a forwarding service. | These Automated Limit Reductions are different and don't have much to do with your browsing History, feedback or listing items.
These restrictions are triggered from the moment you create a seller account and confirm your phone number.
Before you even list an item, they are limiting the accounts. Usually within 24-72 hours.
It's possible that if you let the buying account age for a long period then you may bypass it, but from what I've been researching, I think it's a software they have added to the seller account creation to reduce risk of fraud.
There may be other triggers like ⊗⊗⊗⊗ addresses etc. . .but I wouldn't know about that because using a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address is a very bad idea.

I believe they know if it's a forwarded number now, the second you input your phone number into their system.
Ebay probably loses hundreds of million in fraud, and I wouldn't be surprised if they're really trying to step it up to stop scammers. Really, I've wondered why it's taken this long.
Eventually they'll want drivers license numbers, or even worse, the dreaded SSN requirements. I hope not.

@corleone
They probably wouldn't want that. They'll lose a lot of business for people not wanting to do it. Plus I remember Aspkin saying that the reason why PayPal can get away with doing so much is because they are not a bank. Where bank requires ssn right away.

I found an interesting article: eBay Removes Transparency as It Cracks Down on Sellers
he small seller extermination is turning into small seller genocide at the order of John Donahoe. Throughout the coming months tens of thousands more sellers will fall victim to Donahoe's genocide. There will be no notice, there will be no appeals.
Effected sellers will simply receive a notice from their former master telling them they may no longer list on eBay. Demonstrating how disconnected eBay executives have become from their own customers, the notice sellers receive will inform them that they will be allowed to continue to purchase on eBay, as if those who find their income reduced to zero would want to reward eBay with future purchases.
Sellers should expect that the next seller release from eBay is going to hold some unpleasant realities for small sellers who manage to survive the genocide. These changes will be on a take it or leave eBay basis. eBay executives do not care if sellers elect to leave.
Since eBay profits from returns, expect that the managed return process will become mandatory for all sellers with the next release. Also, since eBay will need to replace sales volume which will be lost as a result of the ongoing seller purge, expect that the Global Shipping program will become mandatory as well especially since eBay realizes substantial revenue when they mark up the international shipping costs to overseas buyers.

I agree I think the immediate trigger is making a seller account right away regardless of what is used.
The longer u keep the account as a buyer account the better , they use a security program that probably is set to hit accounts with certain criteria
And the number one of an account being stealth is creating a seller account in a day or week, I get best results leaving as a buying account for 2 months , than switching to a seller account for me this way is the best and I never receive a mc999 .
And buyer accounts are do easily made u can make 10 a day if u wanted to and before u know it 2-3 months go by.
I completely forgot about one account made almost a year ago , ALSo with a Paypal weren't linked and when I changed it over to a selling account they gave me 100/$5000 limit. Paypal holds still existed but nice start off limit.

Dmshark, what do you buy and how do you receive goods? Please don't tell me you got 20 mail boxes for 20 stealths do you? That is expensive for a new stealther.
