Any Ideas on what is trigerring the NEW MC999?
 

I've gotten the MC999 on 3 of 4 new opened accounts. Only one I was able to "verify" when calling and it was just pure luck. Others I can't. These are the account that both, have and some that I have not sold anything on yet.

Only relationship between all my accounts is that they are all under 4 months old.

When I spoke with a rep.
today he said something to this effect: "this is a seasonal thing we are doing.
We are not accepting anymore new sellers".

He then backtracked to saying they are not accepting those that they can;t verify through the public database system.

Anybody have any ideas so far?

Freedom voice, which should be good as they get to call me back on the number that I have on my ebay account.

Try buying a cheap prepaid phone and let us know if you still have the problem.

I could be wrong, but I think call forwarding services may be causing issues.

Do you think they are linking people to old accounts that way? Wouldn't the account be suspended immediately then? Thanks I'll try that

I don't follow your question.

You mean old accounts that used the same service?

Doubt it, that would be too much work for them, and it's not a violation to use call forwarding, lots of people do with online transactions.

More likely, it would be a preventative measure.

The odds of a new user using a forwarding service would favor them being a stealth user in all likelihood. They're targeting new users, not existing users.

Give it a shot and let us know if your problem has decreased. Buy a couple phones, not just 1, maybe open 3 new accounts, and let us know how many of them get the mc999.

It's only a theory, but over the last month, none of my accounts opened with a prepaid phone have got the mc999. Most of the accounts using GV and another service have gotten the restriction.

It's the only thing I'm able to isolate as the cause, so if this isn't the trigger than I'm stumped.

Someone suggested that you ought to link the PayPal accts then that should avoid the mc999. I have opened up about ten since oct 28th, have not gotten one since. I use gv, did not add a prepaid card or anything. Just confirmed email. Sold on an account last night that was opened on the 15th. Those new accounts that I created since 28th, no mc999, didn't sell or try to sell anything either.

The one that I did sell, no bank acct or anything just yet. Just a vanilla card to pay fees when ready

Ok, got the mc999 on my oct 15th acct, after I sold something too. Is this the end of stealth as we know it? Oh no!!!

Great observation with the call forwarding. I will go get a few. I had no idea they could distinguish between a call forwarding service and an actual phone line. How can they?

I just wanted to add that when I just called today on the mc999, they wanted to test my phone number specifically. It is a gv. And the rep went on and on about how this could be bad for customer service Etc. I said oh ok. But this number is my cell phone also. I merged the 2 numbers. Then afterwards, she just wanted to verify my pp. we will see how it goes tommorow.

@corleone, I think you hit it, I with google voice triggering this , I usually use a trac phone or even a VOIP that's an app that acts as a phone within ur phone like text me or text plus. , send hub.

But I only used google voice once almost a year ago, and didn't like the way it worked with relaying the calls, but decided to try using that last week and I got the mc999 the new one also

Amazon has samsung tracfones for 4.99.They come with 20 minutes loaded in them already. I've been buying a bunch of them. Real cheap

Me GV - Registered # on w.pages.com - setup and link GV to talkatone - phone verified no problem.

Limit increase and a cookie from the rep.

OKAY, what do you mean? I went to that web page and only pics. I use talkatone too, and it still gave me the mc999.

Others may have better luck with GV, but I get the feeling that the forwarding services are being monitored. Ebay probably created software which recognizes when a call is being forwarded, I'm sure there is technology out there.

It just seems like too much a coincidence that these are happening with GV, Vumber and other forwarding services, yet the dozen accounts I've made with actual prepaid phones, haven't had the restriction.

This is the first time a received an Mc999 for a long time , I figured out what to do to avoid them

The one thing I did different when making this than every other I made in the last 7 months is used GV

I used it when I made my first few accounts a year ago and didn't really like or feel comfortable with the relay calling and started using text me , send hub , apps that are basically phones that u can use to call direct without the relay

It's got to be flagging the accounts and than after ur flagged we are tricked into asking for a limit increase which makes our account a mess, but I really think even if u use GV get the MC999 but call in without using the limit raise link you won't get the ID. Verification with trust and safety just the normal questions if u don't ask for a raise.

So GV Seems to be triggering this and than we are asking for a limit raise which is a trap

I will be not very sure about that..
I use a real phone number get MC999 and when they ask me what was the reason for calling i said that is for unlock my account.Easy questions account 10/1000.
Now i wait the second MC999..

Here's the thing GV is not the sole reason for triggering the. MC999

There are ways not to get that initial MC999 and it's discussed on so many threads so I'm not going to get info it all now, but it is possible to open an account and not have to call in I been making accounts for many months and once I became more experienced and read through the forum I haven't received one till now

The only thing I did different is use GV to get this recent one and first one in 7 months so it could be a trigger

That being said there are many other things needed to avoid getting this and it's not so much in creation but it has to do with the way u operate the account

Agree with that.And i think that if you use GV + another mistake you will receive the hard MC999 and sent to vetting..

I just got hit with mc 999 on an account with 370+ good fb with no negatives and great limits. So far I have lost 2/10. I'm on the edge now because every minute it's like " oh I'm about to loose another"

These dozen accounts you mentioned without restriction, suspected due to a prepaid phone, were they created recently? Since the MC999 has been happening?

There definitely is the technology. The Android market even has an application that recognizes forwarded phone calls the "Forwarded Call Alert".

On many of the threads I read "MC999 has been covered many times so look there". I've been reading for two days and I did not find much. What am I missing? I've been getting them before listing anything. So far :

1) someone suggested to list with the same IP as you registered the account
2)if you must call ebay choose the account suspension option, otherwise if you call to increase limits you'll get the database questions.
3)Prepaid phone has been covered here.
4)Being linked through gmail. (Is that true??)
5)Just call and hope for the best. No way around it.

This is the message I got on my real account 2 years ago. I can't sell indefinitely but can buy on ebay which I do regularly. Every time I log into that account this message is the first thing I see on my screen.

Well like JJ said , I think that flagged me but still have a feeling if I'd went to account restriction I'd of been asked easy questions but I followed ebay and walked in their trap of asking for a limit increase on a new account

The email may sound like a slap on the wrist, but bear in mind, the claim was questionable / authenticity of your items. And from the sounds of it, it is competitors that are reporting you.

I would tread lightly with that account and perhaps let it cool off while you focus on other accounts.

That's what I planned on doing. I was just going to post the other items. In the email they told me the specific item. So this morning I haven't posted that certain item on my x accounts.

That second part of your image seems to suggest it is competitors...

"Your listing was brought to our attention by members of the community..."


If that statement is accurate, I would think it would be competitors.

I want to cool down on this account but right now it's $$$ time so I might as well get what I can plus the thought of doing eBay past January has forever left my mind.

Not quitting but just trying to finish school and not deal with the headache that comes with eB. Maybe later down in life I may do it as a hobby.
