Change MAC address for eBay or just Amazon?
 

Do you change mac addresses for eBay?

I read that you have to do this for Amazon, but no one said anything about eBay. Surely they can track that too.

At the present time you do not need to change your MAC address.

You only need a new user account and a fresh IP address.

Ah the MAC address theory for Amazon resurfaces...anyhow, for eB/pp I don't worry about that - works well for me with numerous accounts without worrying about MAC address.

cjmixers is right - you also need ALL new info.

Thanks for confirming what I thought.

After a very brief bit of research, it seems mac address are not sent through different networks. So unless you live next door to ebay and are connected to the same exchange, the mac data is replaced with the ip (or something like that lol).

However, if Amazon really are tracking it, then eBay could just flip a switch one day and detect all the stealthers.

On the otherhand, I've been tethering my iPad for about a month or two, logged 400 ip addresss, of which I've been given a previously used one about 20 times.

Makes me wonder how many times all my neighbours have had my IP address, and why they haven't been falsely accused of having stealth accounts.

So long as my IP changes each time, is it really necessary to log and not use the same one I used weeks ago, as I've used 200 different addresses in between.

That sounds like the best solution.

I need a more efficient way of logging ips that does it in this fashion.
