Accounts hacked: later resolved.

Ok, someone just managed to change the passwords on my Ebay, Paypal and Gmail accounts! I just got my Ebay back, but no luck with gmail and paypal. So I guess both are gone now.

Can I make a new Paypal account and link it to my Ebay account? Can I create the new PP with a different name and/or address/country from my Ebay ACC? I'm not sure if I can open a new Paypal account with the same details (name, address) as the old one.

I need one asap, don't want to loose the EB due to no fee payment.

You are running a risk of loosing the account if you link in a new PP.

Best place to start is to find out how someone hacked your account

They will most likely link all accounts and shut them down.

I need to get back my Gmail acc in order to get back paypal. But Gmail is asking for information I no longer have, so they won't let me change the password.

Right now, my Ebay is useless so I don't have anything to loose.

Well, it is up to you to make this experiment.
Most probably, you will have trouble in this account as email & pp are still hacked. In addition, it might raise flags changing email & pp.

I second the notion of knowing how, who & why your account was hacked. Maybe it is not an isolated incident & your other accounts are at risk too.

Best of luck

If you can verify the info on the ebay account, you may be able to change the email address on the ebay account and do the same in paypal.

Try that option.

Did you make the account yourself? Or buy it somewhere else? Did you change the original password if you bought it somewhere else?

Have you been using a Proxy or VPS or?

I am just trying to figure out where they got info from..

It will be linked. Might take up to a month. But it both will suffer the same same fate.

Done with Ebay. No luck with Paypal, they don't accept my new phone number to send the verification code.

Well Done.

Make sure you create a more reliable password to prevent this happening again.

And save all your information somewhere safe! It's crucial to make sure you have all important information pertaining to your accounts saved.

Did you buy your accounts? This happened to me once when I didnt change password in first week. Luckily that account seller was given the boot a long time ago

i take it you have all the same passwords or a very similar password for all your accounts.

this is the reason why you want to keep your info updated when you change you make the necessary changes to your accounts to prevent such issues

Congratulations. I love a success story. I don't see how you will ever know how you got hacked. Someone filed a 2012 tax return in my SS Number and I will never know either who or what is responsible. Just be careful.

Not so fast! Now my Ebay account is restricted for selling. I will never be able to sell on that account again, so it's gone, toasted. :-(
