Passing email addresses between members
 

Sometimes you just want to communicate with another EB member off the radar by email but as we know EB will not let you put anything which looks like an email address into a message.

At one time you could put something like:-

biglouis (at) mydomain (dot) com

but now EB seems able to suss it out.

However you can add a picture so the way around this which I use is to turn my email addresses into jpgs and attach the appropriate one to the message.

I've even had people send me 3-4 messages with the email bit by bit yes it is silly..

I had this with an Ebay seller yesterday.

Often I come across a seller who has one or two widgets listed and mentions in the listing she inherited or bought a collection. So I think I will try to buy the collection privately, split up the widgets, and then flip them back onto Ebay or other sites.

I wanted to ask her to send me some pictures privately and she didnt have my email address as we were not in a transaction. I sent it in a jpg.

Of course Enay doesnt want members to buy and sell items privately. They want you to list it there and pay their fees.

sometimes, weird, even if you write the email in full, not ebay blocks it.

Not worth the risk of it with that picture tip in place

At one time you could write the address our in full:-

biglouis at mydomain dot com

but the bots have now got more sophisticated and they spot it even without the @

With the picture they never can because they dont know whats in the picture - they would need for a human to examine every jpg.

Takes me back to my childhood and the 'where is wally' (or waldo for the yanks) books. So so many hours of strained eyes.
