Default Using a Virtual Machine?

I know that some people say that this is an "overkill". but would it still work if I used a Virtual Machine (like VMWare) as a substitute for a user account?

Surely it would keep cookies separate from my main user account, and I know that switching users back and forth is easier but I just want to know if this is allowed.

And I will be using a different Dedicated IP of course when using the VM.

So any downsides or limitations to doing this?

Should work well if account info are all separated - yes it is overkill for eB.

IP separation is good move

Overkill for ebay. Quicker to get a dongle or tether a cell phone.

That way you fully separate a main account from a stealth account.

That means less info in common.

Sometimes you must make sure your VMware connection is operating. It can ( rarely) happen that it drops out & you are on a different IP.... hence I prefer a dongle etc.

How many stealth accounts are you thinking of running?

Just one. Also, I plan on using a dedicated private VPN that I connect to using a dongle so in case connection drops then I shouldn't have a problem. But now I am considering just using a user account because if the VPN fails then the dongle IP is exposed which means I cannot use it for another account in the future.

Separate User Accounts + Dongle = easy and fast.

Thanks for your responses guys. I was only considering a VM because of the convenience of it being in a window with my main user account but I don't want it to be a liability, and now that I think of it, switching user accounts isn't a big deal.

Using a VM won't change the IP that eBay can see, it'll be the same regardless of how many different computers or VMs you are using as long as they are on the same connection. Use an mobile internet dongle or the likes to get a different connection, and thus different IP.

My machine is getting loaded down with user accounts 25+ and counting 5 more for this month (Jan 2014). Would it be ok to add VMWARE for more user accounts? instead of adding or building up another machine in order to house all of my new user accounts for the rest 2014 and beyond?

Thanks,
S4L
