| | | | Using old eBay username to find out current one? I'm trying to remember an old eBay stealth account username. My computer recently crashed and it's looking like I can't recovery anything. I had a file on there will all eBay & PayPal info/details and that's gone, among other things. I've remembered quite a few of the usernames & passwords but there's still a key account that I can't remember.
My accounts were purchased from a seller (not on here) and luckily I still have the file they originally sent me of the details. However, that's the very original details. I changed the e-mail, username and password to the accounts (understandably). Now from looking at the file, I see the original/past username of the account. Is there any way I can use that to find out the current account name?
Zero results show up on Google when I type in "usernamehere1737 ebay"
I was using the accounts with a VPS at one point, however I was never on them for a long period of time, so I stopped paying for the VPS until I would need them again. I might try to contact my VPS provider and see if they can allow me to access my old VPS and check in the browser to see if it shows any remembered usernames or emails. |
Re: Using old eBay username to find out current one? You could search under the advanced options of eBay - looking for Sales by specific seller...type in the username and see if anything comes up |
Re: Using old eBay username to find out current one? Unfortunately didn't work.
Anyone got any ideas?
Calling eBay wouldn't work, would it? I'd have to make up a story |

Even with a crashed computer, that file may be 'somewhere'. If the proper program is used you might be able to recover the info.
Did you do back-ups? Nothing stored elsewhere for security reasons?
(Start doing that in future).

Re: Using old eBay username to find out current one? try RECUVA |
Re: Using old eBay username to find out current one? Also can try R-Studio. |

:mod: | I have no backups unfortunately.:smash::tears:My computer (MacBook Pro from late 2009) was running perfectly fine and then all of a sudden it started acting extremely slow for a week, then got to the point where I couldn't even access the desktop. I regret not trying to back up anything during the period it was running super slow but hindsight is 20/20 I guess. I then had to buy a new Mac which I used to connect to my crashed one to run a program (TechTool Pro) which ran some scans and tests. The results of the scans and tests were not good, and the recovery tool wasn't even working properly for me. And I was told that I'd be out of luck and the only chance was if I were to go to a company who's known to recover things.. but those sorts of companies are known to charge insane prices well over $1,000.
Definitely a lesson to start backing up my stuff. |

Its a PITA for sure.
It may not help now but for the future, might I suggest that you print out your pages and put them in a secure place.. ( I have my accounts in a safe)
Had a laptop and a 300GB HDD back up drive with all my accounts.
Long story short, my Inspiron LT died, and as I go to recover on the NEW LT, the backup drive CRASHED and ALL my data was gone.. |

Advice of RECUVA & R-Studio are good. Do not run both of them together.
Lesson learned. Always have back-ups down. Have physical copies & saved to Hard drive/disk.
This was avoidable.

Re: Using old eBay username to find out current one? I have many USB drives which I used for various reasons, but I never had the thought to constantly back up all of my files on them. I just couldn't imagine my computer going from being perfectly fine one day, to horrendously slow the next, and within a few more days, never able to access the desktop. (it only boots from the Recovery HD)
And I'd like to think there's still hope to recover files, however after running one of the tests on Tech Tool Pro (one of the top disk repair and recovery programs. Similar to DiskWarrior) it showed my Mac had over 500,000 "bad blocks" which is extremely high |
| GreenBean | 01-26-2014 02:37 AM | Re: Using old eBay username to find out current one? DiskWarrior is an APPLE based recovery tool.
Look into its usage.
@MM78, I have all my data spread on USB Drives, the works plus paper copies.
Essential for stealth.

Re: Using old eBay username to find out current one? Just remembered the last username I needed! And the password :)
Still looking to somehow get the rest of my files back but it's looking very unlikely |
Re: Using old eBay username to find out current one? Be careful with anything stored on usb flash drives, especially the micro ones for smartphones, 2 times the entire drive wiped and empty for whatever reason could be the removal from usb ports, loose usb ports, forcing computer / device shutdown.. they can and will fail at anytime.
If you are trying to recover any data using any of the above tools it is crucial that you do not continue writing anymore data to the cards, at all.
Just yesterday someone told me they are coming out with or, already have, a 512 GB usb flash drive. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:06 PM. | |
