Why need multiple amazon accounts?

I'm not selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ or anything close. Just liquidation stuff.

So I'm curious, why one would need multiple amazon accounts? If you're shipping on time, selling legit stuff, would you go on and make a 2nd or 3rd account to sell similar items?

Silly question, I know, but just curious why many of you have multiple accounts.

I have multiple ebays because of their selling limitations per month.

Its easier to spread out sales in case one account goes down

just like Shadowmoe7 if you loose a account you'll have another to fall back on

Are you slowly selling on these accounts too? Or just creating sleeper's account?

On a side note, are there such thing as a sleepers selling account for amazon?

Amazon does not like new sellers selling fast, they think basically you are a non legit business and going to rip of their customers. All major players are now selling so if a new account opens doing big bucks flags will be raised. Open several accounts and this overcomes the issue.

Gonna keep it under $700 / month for the first 3 month as what the boss noted

This is a myth

That $700 limit is truly a myth. I've had accounts get shut down after $400.

Re: Why need multiple amazon accounts?

The $750 review used to be done like clockwork, but now it varies.

Why several accounts? To spread your risk. The truth is, ANYONE can lose an account at any time, even if your merchandise is 100% legitimate and you try your best to operate professionally. Competitors will try to take you down. A glitch in the postal system could cause everything you sent out on a given day to be delayed. Even though your tracking will show the item was shipped, all Amazon will care about is on time delivery. No account is immune to this, unless maybe, you are a large volume, well-known seller.

There is nothing worse than the feeling of having an account banned when you are selling, for example, $10k per month and making a $3,000 profit which you count on to pay your bills and suddenly losing it. Then, just to screw you up even more, they hold your money for 90 days. It is difficult to recover from that. Using multiple accounts means they can only shut down a small percentage of your business. If you have 10 accounts instead of one, and one account goes down, you have only lost 10% of your business, not 100% of your business.

That is definitely a scary one to experience. Even a ban from a small ebay account makes you feel like all hope is lost. Well... Going to open one up today and see how he next few weeks will goz

Re: Why need multiple amazon accounts?

Just to echo what jeffweico mentioned above where ANYONE can lose an account at anytime...

I just lost an account indefinitely recently because of basically selling a bit too quickly on it.

I didn't blink an eye or get upset. Why? Because I have another 5 accounts that are running strong and another 10 eBay accounts. I will just replace this burnt account w/ a newly created one.

Two years ago, if this same account went down, I would have been in tears because I didn't have backups.

Having multiple accounts takes the fear out of losing 1 account for whatever reason. And not to mention the peace of mind. That is a price you cannot put a value on :)

An0ny - your point is valid :) just saying that the thread is for Amazon :FF: - but same principle applies of replacing the burnt account :thumb:
