True point - moving forward avoid this kind of activity with Capital One - just do direct cashouts and leave good balances in the accounts to keep the bank happy.

Slapped that is very true and I was a little paranoid about transferring my funds in this way. In fact I made this thread asking if it was safe practice:

http://www.aspkin.com/forums/subscri...ing-funds.html

I tried doing it for convenience and I guess in the end it wasn't the right way to operate. Never again will I operate my bank accounts in this manner. You live you learn. I hope my mistake prevents other people new to the game from tripping up the same way.

Now what I am worried about is my credit score being affected by this. Does anyone have experience on the matter? I will be checking my score in a few weeks.

Get your credit score checked ASAP - should not be affected if you have not gone delinquent in your amounts...but pull your credit to be sure

No one is going to answer that.

We have no way of knowing nor do we want to know.

As a matter of doing business (especially with stealth) checking a credit score is wise.
You need to be aware of what exists about you.....

Just wanted to update everyone who was kind enough to chime in on this thread…

I went to HSBC shortly after my last post on this thread and spoke to a branch manager. They told me there was nothing they could do except withdraw all my money from the accounts for me. The account closures were handled by a different department and their hands were tied.

Fast-forward a couple weeks later (about a month after the date of my first letter stating my accounts would be closed), and I received ANOTHER letter from HSBC, this time telling me, "We are pleased to inform you that your accounts have now been approved to remain open at this time. We sincerely apologize for the unnecessary concern and inconvenience this matter has caused you."

LOL, I've never had such a bizarre and schizophrenic relationship with a bank.

Regardless, the accounts (for whatever reason) are remaining open. I tried calling to see if they could provide me with any info, but they had no idea why HSBC changed their minds regarding this matter, just like they had no idea why they chose to close my accounts a month ago. STRANGE!

More than likely your chat with the Manager earned you some brownie points.

Banking is complex ( as you are finding out). May be that there was some off the record chats and thus you got lucky.

Banks rarely tell the truth.....

oh, sounds like paypal
