Paypal can check Passport # now?
 

I submitted a passport for my photo ID in regards to a Paypal limitation. Paypal rep said they cannot verify the passport #. Since when did Paypal have ability to check government #?!:confused:

They don`t - they are giving you some BS straight up - call and get ANOTHER agent

THey can't, they are not allowed to.

Call them back and most likely you'll get a slightly more sane person on the phone who might be able to help yo ufurther.

American financial coporates have more power than other countries when it comes to getting your details because of the PATRIOT act and other acts that gave up American's freedoms. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they can actually verify your Passpord ID when you submitted it for verification.

Paypal is now calling themselves a financial institution when all they are is a payment processor.

They believe they can just make up the rules and change the laws.

No, Paypal will reject any documents that has any censoring on it.

They might want to be careful....

Pretty soon, attorneys and lawmakers might start calling them a financial institution as well. And I'm sure they don't want THAT!

Just like eBay and PayPal being SEPARATE COMPANIES (when it suits them, of course).

I would call up PayPal and ask to speak to an account executive. A manager. Someone who can actually help you. If it went to a review team then ask to speak with one of those people. You may have to call multiple times to get anywhere. If you really want your account back you want to talk to someone as high up as possible and specifically the individual that decided to hit you with this limitation.

To be honest you are going to have to be very pushy and persistent. In many cases rude to get high up enough on the food chain to actually talk to someone that can help you.

Never. Anything blacked out gets rejected.

And the passport is the last document that should ever be submitted in any case.

man their policy changed a lot since the last time i sent them anything ( that was like 4-5 years ago ).. knock on wood

To warn you now, another user had the same promise.

paypal did not honor the agreement.

IF they do not honor the 45 days, your chances are very good that you should receive the money in 180 days without problems...I have had this without issue

You had a promise of 45 days release that was not honoured but got the funds later? When did that happen?

Did you request an email as a proof of the 45 days? Remember, it is not what you know, it is what you can proof in any case.
