Just Got The Dreaded MC999

Hi everyone I just got the dreaded MC999. This is a new account opened aprox. 3 months I have not sold a lot under it. Probably about 10 items I have also brought quite a few items. It is a stealth account.

Tonight I was listing items listed about 7 of them all house hold stuff and the next thing I see my listings had been canceled and I had am MC999 notice stating I had reached my seller limits my seller limits are at 0 items 0.00. My listings are still showing in the unsold items.

When I researched it further it is stating that there is similar information that matches a suspended account. I am wondering if the item I listed itself was what may have linked it all the other information was different. I did use a name variation but phone number address ip address computer bank account paypal account everything was different.

Do you think I have a shot at getting this reinstated by calling them. Anyone else experience this?

At this point what do you have to lose? Might as well call them up.

That's what I figured at this point I have nothing to loose so I am going to give them a call tomorrow. There was no number put in the email they sent me but I was able to pull up a phone number when I was looking in ebays seller limits guide. Wish me luck. In the mean time I am working on creating another stealth and paypal account. I will actually be creating a couple stealth accounts this time so that I have on to fall back on. Thank goodness for the Ebay Stealth Guide!

I'm interested in what you get told if anything. Last time I talked to them this didn't seem to care.

always a great idea to have backups. Sell with the backups as well so if your main accounts get frozen you will already have established accounts

Sounds like you got linked.

Why use a variation when you do not have to?

Running multiple stealth accounts without variations and running them well works just as fine.

Something you did tossed a flag up.

Make sure if you do sell those products ever again they are not used in the same manner, pictures, description etc.

Call them but be prepared to answer questions about being linked.

you were definitely linked somehow

If you have already been selling on the account, then the most possible cause could be IP address.

If you logged IP addresses used on all your accounts, then that IP address used with that account should have been used with a banned account that was selling similar items.

3 months old...have you ever sold risky items on it? Or low feedback, dsr? Anything like that?

Re: Just Got The Dreaded MC999

People are getting these MC999's everywhere. It's for one reason or another; wait and hear what they say. I've gotten them quite randomly even after an account has 10+ feedback, even the rep said it didn't make any sense.

Selling low-risk branded items seems to trigger it if you've never gotten it before (even months later after you opened the account and sold low risk items on it). In best case scenario; you may be asked questions regarding the items your selling or for you to verify and link your Paypal account (there's nothing on the eBay site that says you HAVE to do so, they're just trying to make it a requirement, you can bypass this if you choose the right words; I always say there's a glitch I'll do it later). If they ask for public information (POI) or proof of identity, just junk the account.

Worse case scenario, you got linked and the account is junked anyway.. but if you're taking proper stealth measures and you don't think it was your fault, I would go with the above.

Call them up. Try to get it resolved. It's a waste of customer resources for something they should have standard on the eBay page.

Are you logging all your IPs or just assuming they change to a good one?, because 3 months aged you shouldn't be getting MC999 unless it's for increased selling limits, 90 days is when good things start to happen, you need to trace your steps , it's ashame going all the way to 90 days and needing to scrape the account

No reason to use a name variation on a stealth account. The only instance you might and I say might try that. Is if you go the EIN route a register a new business, etc. Go through all those hurdles.

For a simple Stealth account. Bad idea.

I got MC999 on a nearly 4 months aged account. Initially, they wanted invoices and then got another email two days later with indefinite suspension.

Nothing out of the blue, was just selling about 10 items a day. Limits were increased from 10/$1000 to 100/$5000 this month.

Do you have a lot of competition in your niche? Could be a seller wanted you out

I am guessing this was meant for me. Lots of sellers out there with the same item.
