unable to add bank account to paypal
 

I removed a First Direct (HSBC) bank account from an old paypal account that was never used.

i am now trying to add to a paypal account i am using.

can anyone idenrtify any issues with this why i cant add it.

What is exactly happening?

Look for a thread by Mack The Knife. He has been having issues. Been glitches with paypal for months in the UK as well.

Expand on what is happening please, Saw

Just to be clear here, you had a bank account linked to a PayPal account, but never used the PayPal account? You then removed the bank account from the first PayPal account and tried to link it to a new PayPal account? Or have I misunderstood that?

If I did understand that then the reason you cannot add it is bank accounts cannot be reused on PayPal. Just because you removed it from PP does not mean PP removed it from their system. It is forever linked with that first PayPal account.

I got a brand new first direct account.

I then tried to add this brand new first direct account to an existing fully verified Paypal account.

What they did was upgrade my other First Direct account to the Brand New one.

So Say the number on my older First direct account were 40-23-76 and the account number is 1235344

And the brand new one is totally different and 43-23-32 ac 435234

They effectively pasted the new account over the old one in another paypal account.

I removed it in the older account, but It wont let me add either at all.

Will have to try cancelling both and setting up a new one.

First Direct is the best bank in the UK.

No telephone options or press 1, Someone answer the phone within 4 rings and THEY can help you.

brand new First Direct account effectively superceded the old first direct direct when trying to add the new first direct account to the new paypal

It amazed me no end.

I rang first direct. They can not explain it.
