Suddenly required to "Verify Identity" using phone number with every new account?!
 
Hello everyone,

I've had no problem making stealth accounts in the past. I typically use my accounts for non eBay purposes (selling through my own digital eCommerce Stores, etc.), however recently that all changed.

As of about a week ago, everytime I make a new account, it creates fine, but when I receive my first payment I get the following e-mail:

Congratulations on your first sale with PayPal. Since you are a new seller with us, we'd like to give you important information about how your payments are processed.

Payments you receive from buyers are now in your pending balance and temporarily unavailable.

Now, when I login, at the top right I have a notice to click to release this hold. When I do so, I have to "confirm my identity" by having an automated system call my phone number. However, because I'm using Google Voice and/or Text +, it tells me instead that the number cannot be confirmed and I have to attach a SSN in order to verify my identity.

What can I do? This seems to happen with every new stealth account I make.

Create accounts with a tracfone or other prepaid cell.

I've read on here that this 'verification' process requires a landline to 'Confirm Identity' -- will a Tracfone work? It's not a landline.

Agreed, costs a little bit of money to create a more legitimate looking account, but its worth it in the long run
