Failed to get second EIN number online
 

Well, someone on here said that you can only get one EIN per day, I only had one in the last 5 months. I want to get another one for another one of my accounts but when I put in my social security number and clicked next, it said I couldn't do it. Is this normal? I thought you can get an EIN number per day? Do you have to call in from now on to get it? Thanks.

You can only have one EIN per SS#, so if your doing DBA you're limited to 1. If you form an LLC or Corp you can get an EIN for each entity.

Well, this is awful. I thought you were able to get multiple EIN numbers. I have several 100/5000 accounts I just want to make legit and pay taxes on and not have paypal limit my account. Is that possible? If you can make multiple EIN numbers with an LLC, that would be a bit undesirable because an LLC is so expensive, about 1300 dollars a year I believe. Anyone else have other suggestions? thx

legalzoom.com pay $70 and you'll get an EIN someway somehow

Is there a limit where you can have? I plan on getting like 20 EINs so I can max out my 100/5000 accounts, so, basically, in theory sell 2000 items per month legitimately.

no idea. Ive gotten 8 so far just from IRS website.

Sergfro, did you do it as a sole proprietorship or did you do it as llc? If you do it as an llc, did you get 8 ein with one llc? An llc is like 1300 dollars per year! I'm not looking into doing 8 X 1300 bucks per year to get 8 eins!

Newjerseymax, where do you get yours? I'm in California, there might be extra fees here.

I went the LegalZoom route too. I'm sure the exact cost varies from state to state, but it's definitely more than $70 and way less than $1300. The great thing about LegalZoom is that you can pay the main fees in 3 monthly installments so you don't have to have a large chunk of money to form a company.

I don't really remember exactly how much everything cost (I chose to let LegalZoom do all of the work so my fees were higher than usual) but I want to say it was around $600. And most of that was a one-time fee, not a yearly thing.

So 600 bucks you get unlimited ein? I don't want to pay 600 bucks to find out that I cannot even get 1 ein. Or even just one ein. Is it like 600 bucks plus 40 bucks per ein or something of that nature?

I just lost 40 bucks trying to open another sole proprietorship only to find out I only get one ein for a ss#

open up an EIN as a LLC using IRS website. Cost nothing they ask all the same questions as you would signing up for a sole proprietorship EIN

Search wyoming or montana corp. Pay approx 150 to form your corp. And apply for ein with same firm that is forming corp. After you get your main (1st) ein then apply away for more using that 1st ein instead of your ss#

This is exactly what I need. I was giving up on growing account because of this limitation with EIN.

Ok, how about this, fact or fiction? You can get 20 ein, one each per sole prop that you open?

If you are going that way, glacier, may I sincerely suggest you see a Tax professional to get you organized?

Are you saying that there are other ways to manage 20 100/5000 accounts, maxing out your sales for each of these accounts and not need 20 EIN? How do you do that? Thx.

Well, looks like some of the members are correct, getting a second ein as a sole proprietorship is more difficult than it seems. Just tried to do it through the IRS website and it wouldn't let me do it. Tried it through legal zoom and it said I had to fax in a s4 form. I'm beginning to think it is just easier to open an llc.

The problem with opening a lot of business entities to get EIN's is that each one has to file taxes and pay for local business licenses and taxes. In California that can add up to over $1000 a year for each EIN.
