That could be considered atypical activity on a new account. It could also be an IP address not being in the same general geographic location as the street address, or many other things.
With the SSN, they are not GUARANTEED to run a credit report, but they CAN validate the SSN, somewhat. They can verify the year of issue and the state it was issued from. So, you could have a problem if the year of issue does not match the year of birth. State of issue is a different story, because people DO move.
Also, PayPal CAN run a credit report on you, it is stated in their TOS, which you agree to when you sign up for an account. You didn't say what your volume is, but if it is high, they MAY have tried to run a credit report on the stealth name and came up empty with the credit bureaus. Contrary to popular belief, you do NOT have to have an SSN when running a credit report. They will all try to match on name and address if an SSN is not submitted. |
