| | Can e Bay track iPhone emails? Hey Guys I had a question. Thinking of adding all my stealth emails to my Iphone if I look at the email titles when it comes in without actually opening the email will they be able to link the accounts together. The reason im asking is because I need to know when I get a question from a customer and then logging in to that specific account. Thanks |

I have the Gmail set up on my iPhone and can see the emails from eBay and PayPal coming through, you need to disable images for the accounts, so none of the little pictures come up as they contain tracking cookies. You can then open and read the emails, just don't click on any of the links, and don't have any eBay apps on the iPhone either. |

Whether it is Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo, etc. you need to turn of the "display images" option (youll have to find the setting in your specific email client). Ebay tracks through beacons which are embedded in the images that are in the emails, so if you turn them off (no images are displayed) then you can open the email and even read it without being tracked.
To answer the original question yes you can funnel all your emails to your iphone, not open them, just read the subject line, and login to your accounts and do your work. But I would HIGHLY recommend turning off display images, if for no other reason you might accidentally tap one of the emails and then you are cooked. |

I never had any issues opening and reading emails/messages coming from eBay into my gmail account(s) my on iPhone. Sometimes I enable images option just to see what's it that my buyer is showing. Never had any issues. What you CANNOT however do is REPLY. Once you do they know your IP address. A lot of misinformation and confusion is happening on this forum. I feel sorry for noobs ... |

eBay will not see your IP address, they will only see the gmail serves IP address. |

| JamesNorth101 | 08-29-2014 10:03 AM | Re: Can e Bay track iPhone emails? For Gmail
1 - Click settings (button with a clog on it) in the top right of the screen
2 - On the first tab you can see the option 'Ask before displaying external images'. Select that
3 - Scroll to the bottom of the settings, click 'save changes' |

| aspkin | 09-01-2014 05:02 PM | Re: Can e Bay track iPhone emails? Well, Google has recently started to show images by default for some emails (I believe). I don't think this is for every email sent out just yet.
What they do is upload that image to their servers so it's not hosted by a 3rd party and is not a tracking issue. This is why you may see images on when you have selected to have them off.. this is a good thing. Google is protecting you. |

Sounds risky to assume!
Edit: I think I've sorted it. In iPhone Mail settings there is a 'load remote images' setting which I had on! |

And yes, if Google hosts the image it's not an issue. |
