Question re managed returns

So I basically burned any genuine return address when I first got banned back in the day, foolishly adding my name or other names to family addresses.

My question is, when someone wants to return an item can I always decide whether to accept that return or just refund in full? Mu highest costing item for me is £2.80 so I really am not fussed and its a good way to run a high rated account imo.

I have had 2 return cases and have just refunded in full to which they were happy with but wondered if any could slip through.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Question re managed returns

You can't decide whether to accept a return. The process is fully automated. Items can get returned to the stealth address you don't have access to very easily. All it takes is one phone call / email to ebay regarding an item turning up and the account(s) are toast.

If your going to to do managed returns, consider getting a po box or something similar

Buy a virtual address or PO BOX, makes life ten times easier. However, you can choose not to accept returns - matter of business plan and whether you think it's worth it.

I could have probably worded my initial response slightly better. If you are selling cheap items, you can change the settings to automatically refund when a case is opened.

You may of course still get the good Samaritan that insists on sending it back no matter what. These types are a real pain.

Ebayorbust is right.

These are the very buyers that create risks for the account.

The info to have an accessible return address is still apt.

I prefer to not chance having any account 'checked' ....

If there a problem with an item, better tell them to keep the item, take the lose, than worry about it going to stealth address. Most of time the customer is happy, I only get 1 or 2 returns in a year time, so nothing to worry about.

I too would endorse the PO box route, if possible.

Is this an eB, or PP setting? How do I access this option?

Thanks for the responses.

See, I really want to avoid the extra cost of paying for a PO Box when my items I just refund and or send out replacements.

I didnt realise it was fully automated, as I have had one recently (which triggered the post) which gave me the option to accept the return or refund in full. Is this not the case?

Re: Question re managed returns

I think it depends on the reason for return.

Re: Question re managed returns

This one was 'item not as described'. I sent out the wrong colour basically, so just sent them another and told them to keep the other one as a sorry present.

So you can change to auto refund? Where?

PS - Congrats on your green tick Ebayorbust! Well deserved and retardedly overdue!

Re: Question re managed returns

Do you think eB will actually cross check the return address we submit?

The only reason I ask is because the main eB account I currently use to sell is around 2 years old and it has the stealth address that does't exist as the registration address. Then I have my real blocked address as my postal address for buying.

Its been like this since I made the account and I use my real address on atleast another 3 eB buying accounts as the postal address.

Anyone got a bad selling account to test? lol

Cheers
