cleaning my computer

im starting a new account and i want to make 100% sure everything goes good. is the ccleaner and deleting the flash stuff as book says really enough to get my computer clean?

i was thinking about just getting a used laptop off craigslist or something.

Getting another computer is unnecessary to be extra safe make another user account or get vmware.

What platform is this aimed at?

ebay or amazon?

ALL that you have said is fine. It is really fine you made a new user account ( although rsot missed reading that)).

Is your IP new as well?

Could you give some more info please. You are on the right track though

Post your steps OP - seems like you're aiming at eB but true, not 100% clear.

Re: cleaning my computer

also i have a modem question.. right now i have a modem with router, if i buy another router can i switch routers back and forth to change my ip or will the ip stay the same because i would be using them off the same modem?

Re: cleaning my computer

A modem/router combo may not ideal for changing IP address. Most of these can be bridged. If you are unable to bridge your modem, contact your ISP for a modem ONLY device and you can use your own router.

midwestman 10-27-2014 02:58 PM

Re: cleaning my computer

i dont know what bridging is. my router is from buckeye and the modem is mine. we have recently had some net issues in my area and they said it could be my router also, i thought about taking that opportunity to go in and swap my modem out for a new one, they said i could.

Re: cleaning my computer

I am sure you got it backwards, so the modem is from Buckeye CableSystems?

If you change/spoof the mac address in your router and reboot the modem, do you get a new IP address?

Re: cleaning my computer

That is all you need to change the IP address. Remember to log your IP addresses.
