Can't create a seller account due to "technical difficulties"
 
Has anyone experienced this over the past 2 days (10/30/08-11/1/08) I try to gain access to the screen to enter a credit card to create a seller account, and a warning message comes up that they are unable to complete the process at this time.

I got that message about a month ago on one of my accounts, I was starting. I even did a live chat and they said give it a few days and it will correct itself, I think its a smokescreen by EB/PP to get more info or to further investigate something. You may have done something wrong or have linked to another account. When this happened to me, I had created and confirmed the PP first, no problems, then I couldnt get a sellers account going and got that message. I got to the point of getting the Phone# verify, and got that "technical difficulties message". Then bam, while I was waiting this "48" hrs that EB told me too, and then all would be fine, my confirmed PP asked me for SS, it may be coincidence but it happened. I think something was going on, all of it didnt seem normal, I was able to create another account at the same time using all my usual methods/techniques. I may have slipped and done something that tipped them, but wait and see if it happens, I may be right.

tbh, I think that ebay/paypal are changing parameters at the moment. Just make sure that you keep records of everything you do. Def, something about and not because it is Halloween

They have had that "problem" for a very long time. Every time I have tried live chat they say the same fricken thing...try again in a few days and it should be fixed. They are full of it. It seems it is not high on ebays priority list.

Of course it's not on their priority list. They already have however many millions of sellers as it is.

I think I figured it out- TELEPHONE VERIFICATION STEP not loading and timing-out, which in my case was due to poor computer performance.

I know ebay is all about cookies, but since I needed to phone verify anyway I thought no harm in cleaning up the comp and getting everything deleted. I did that, the computer was healthier, and I tried again.

FINALLY Everything worked normally, phone verification loaded and worked and I have a seller account now.

I googled the problem and a lot of other people around the world have experienced the same thing, but as always no one had an answer.
