Are All New Sellers Asked To Verify Idenity Now On Regular MC999 Calls?

Finally avoided the dreaded 0/0 limit and got the 5/500 after creating seller account. i listed an item, it was removed with the regular mc999 for new sellers.

However when i called in they didn't just ask for simple info on the listing as usual, they also wanted to pull up my info for questions via public records to keep ebay "safe".

They couldn't pull anything up so now i can't get the item listed.

what happens if i'm using stealth info... how is all this supposed to be avoided?

I have had success saying I paid a company to remove my info from public record

they're not mandatory, no. depends on the rep usually.

A lot of times it depends on how confident you speak. If you are unsure or nervous, you are most likely going to get the database questions. If you answer these questions with confidence, you are usually OK even when you don't pass. You are hesitant on how old you are well that is another story altogether.

I agree, the only time I've ever called it......of course they could't find me, but I just kept talking, an dated like it was no big deal they couldn't find me and they gave me 10/1K....

And now, ebay will be flooded with others saying that.

Cue 'so what' in the future from ebay.

If it happens just tell them you have an emergency - baby crying or whatever - and call back a couple of minutes later. Make sure you note the name of the rep you spoke to so if you get him again just hang up and call yet again till you get a decent rep.

Must have had a good agent - experience few times with them and not finding "me" resulted in request for document submission

I had the same thing happen to a stealth account I created a few months back. Received MC999 and had my very first listing removed instantly. Account was limited instantly.

I did the call (standard procedure) and received a fairly decent rep to talk to about increasing my limits. Well... First thing he asked off the bat was what is my personal information (including residence information) and I replied to him calmly. After a few brief pauses and some typing on his end he suddenly stated that he can't find me in the database....

Well... To my luck I happened to be a bit drunk at the moment so heres how I replied to him: "Of course you can't find me in the Database.... I'm Batman."

Long story short... It ended with him not finding it funny and telling me to email them some documents. Bye bye account :D

Honestly, this is why I chose college towns for stealth accounts, then I sell items that are consistent with a young person to start. Textbooks, young people clothing, etc. Simple safe stuff to start accounts. If they start asking for info about you hopefully you don't sound like a 60 year old who has been smoking for 40 years. But you can b.s. your way through the irregularities.

Brilliant!

As for getting around the database question, detailed strategy is shared on the thread posted in my signature.

Surprised to hear good advice on the topic coming from someone who historically HATES the very suggestion of calling eBay....but nonetheless, great advice and thank you for supporting members.
