Re: Whats your return strategy?

Also, when eBay sends notice of buyer wanting a return, it gives seller a few days to respond to buyer before ebay steps in, so use those days to try to contact buyer, email and phone if necessary, and offer to send them to their email (not eBay messages) your return label or ask to return to label in box, and NOT use ebay label or ask for one. After that you can go ahead and "accept" the return in ebay and refund when you get the item, eBay will not know where the return was sent I believe. Does buyer has an option to upload tracking number of return?

A little more work but it could at least fix some of those returns from buyers that initiate it without contacting you.

Something else that can limit those is include text in your invoice in box stating to contact you before any issues/returns, or include text along the lines of "Returns Department" and an accessible address, eBay will never see this but it will let buyers know that there is a different return address and will contact you first since they don't want to send it to wrong address either.

Ebay will not give a refund to the buyer until you say you have received the item and it is in the same condition as when you sent it. Now, if you just ignore the return process then I am sure eBay will just refund them as soon as they upload tracking.

On the automated returns, this can be shut off by going into site preferences. This should make it to where the buyer has to contact you on return instructions. I absolutely hate the automated return system.

Are you sure? I have never been contacted by them to confirm me receiving the package back and its condition. I will have to check the site preferences you mentioned here and see what i have selected.

Re: Whats your return strategy?

I allow returns for any reason for 14 days. I don't care why you don't want it. But you have to pay for the return shipping. And I need to know before you return it why and when you are shipping it. I used to really fight returns. I had so many problems with people who wanted to resell my item and realized they couldn't turn a profit. After having 3 accounts die, I just changed my policy. Have had no problems thus far, knock on wood.

If your getting that many returns I would look at what your selling and why the customers are returning. I have almost 0 returns, knock on wood.

Not sure what your selling or if your getting wholesale product or what, but check with the supplier and ask how to make improvements or you will find another supplier.
