MC999 vs. Listing Policy Alert - What's the difference?

I list in a highly competitive, cut-throat category. My competitors are always reporting one-another, and it's gotten so bad that recently I've been brought into it too.

Hell hath no fury like an intelligent eB@y stealther.

Anyway - I'm getting a bunch of take-down notices. Some are Listing Policy Alerts, and some are MC999's.

Is there any difference?

I'm guessing your listing items you shouldn't be. Find something else to sell, this is probably half the reason PP are coming after the rest of us.

Spoken like someone who's never been in a highly competitive eB niche.

False reports and hooey like this is common in plenty of categories due to ridiculous rules that do not jive with reality. And you must understand that the reason the top sellers in this category ARE the top sellers are because they've already forced everyone else out using these same bullying tactics.

So you're telling me I should walk away from my primary source of income, which is (A) legal and (B) brings me $200-300/day because another person takes 12 hours a day to report my listings?

No thanks.

Now... back to some helpful replies (hopefully).

What is the category?

MC999 is basically a generic code for a lot of type of violations.
And it applies with your listing take down. They are both the one and same.

I have had someone report me despite me having a legit product and it's still taken down.
So I just don't list that product anymore, at least for a VERY very long time later once the account cools down if it's still a hot item down the year.

For clarity, omgoozle is talking about listing policy emails that omit the MC999 classification. Same emails... but mysteriously missing that telltale fingerprint.

I've seen them too, on policies that a year ago included MC999 in the violation email, now however, they do not.

There was someone on here talking about doing that to other peoples accounts to prove there's a problem. I think its really wrong for people to sabotage someone's business. Sorry this happened to you.

I am familiar with this. I believe they are similar violations. The LISTING VIOLATION is like a warning, whereas the MC999 is like a strike.

Correct - too many strikes, you're out
