Arrow What amount of auction time do you prefer?

I'm not sure if the promotions are site wide, but eBay is offering me 1000 free listings.. they include 3, 5, 7, and 10 day auctions. What amount of time do you usually list your auctions at? 10 days seems like a deal but, personally, if I saw a listing with 8-10 days left on auction I would just move on and keep searching (if it wasn't a unique item).

What seems to be your most profitable auction times?

I do a combo of mostly 5 and 7 days. Really depends on how fast I want to move some stuff, sometimes I'll do 3 days but I never do 1 day.

5 day to 7 day ratio is about 40% to 60%.

I also usually use 5 or 7 days. The only exception is if it's a very popular item (like a video game with 1000 listings), then I list it for 1 day

Personally I think it's more important when an auction ends than the actual duration.

If your auction isn't ending on Sunday late afternoon or Sunday early evening, then you should expect a lower selling price.

Never have an auction end early in the morning or in the middle of the day Mon. thru Fri.

These have been my experiences...

Nice strategy TGMT, when an auction finishes, maybe a combination of this and the opening post's comment as well about how sometimes it does feel like auctions that go on for longer can get bypassed by people who maybe think there is plenty of time to come back to that item so they move on to something else, as the impression that can be given to them is that they do have plenty of time to come back to our item later or on another day, they may then forget about it or get distracted by something else.

100% Agreee it should not end in the morning or mid of the day.
As regarding Sundays its not that bad.
I would say Friday evening is worst from evenings.
Monday evening probably one of the bests.

But i would agree most important than the listing ends, not the day.
I like to end them around 9PM.

I sell some very unique high demand items and I always place the auctions to end at some ridiculous time like 3am and put my contact info in the listing so they contact me before the auction ends

I do my listings on a Wednesday or Thursday for 10 days so that they end on a Saturday or Sunday. Then Monday mornings I have a days work packaging everything up. This is usually used clothes or unique expensive items.

Most of my bulk items are buy it now so it doesn't matter so much, although if you can time it right to end on a weekend I usually get an increase in sales on the last day of high quantity buy it now items as you get a good Best Match boost.

Alternatively if due to circumstances I have to do my listings say on a Tuesday or Friday, then instead of paying to choose a start time, I just don't confirm listings so that they all stay in drafts. Then on Thursday I quickly go through them all submitting them.
