Is ebay tracking our computers now too??
 

I called to raise my seller limit with eBay on one of my stealth accounts. BAD MISTAKE! The lady not only linked my ip address, but she also told me they tracked me using the same computer with two accounts as well. I haven't seen anyone bring this up. So I would love to know has this happen to anyone else as well?? I also wanted to put everyone up on game, letting you guys know that ebay might be stepping their game up on tracking stealth accounts down!

Pretty standard to use tracking cookies to track a computer

Were you using the same user account for both eBay accounts?

I like how everyones automatic answer is always "its standard" and dont touch base on the subject.

You probably screwed up along the line...used the same IP on multiple accounts, used a recycled IP that someone got banned on and you were linked to a completely different account, etc. You were linked in some way...doesnt mean they are tracking your computer. That would be a wee bit illegal...but when have ebay and paypal ever played by legalities?

I dont think ebay are stepping up anything, I think ebay stealth users are getting abit sloppy. Also im ready alot of users using mobile devices lately...hmmmmm, thats kinda untested, Id keep it on the safe side and keep it desktop. Im not an expert but just my thoughts

If the ebay APP is on that phone, then no you can not safely use the mobile.

My uk ebay account is suspended .now I'm using new usa account of my sister in my mobile all new info new ip etc .All running well no prob at all .I always use ebay in my mobile app I wnat to know wht the prob using ebay in mobile if we using in mobile or computer whts the difference. Why some peopl say not to use any ebay on mobile I gel it save n no prob at all .ebay nevr suspend u just becz u using mobile app .They have nothing to do with mobile I guess if u have 4 account u xant use 4 account in computer can you? BecZ one computer have one I'd if u suspend once u suspend all 4 .but on mobile u can kep 2 mobile woth 3 diffrent Ip wifi etc .Can run safely Pl correct if I'm wrong .

My uk ebay account is suspended .now I'm using new usa ebay account of my sister in my mobile with all new info new ip etc
.All running well no prob at all .
I always use ebay in my mobile app I want to know whts the prob using ebay in mobile rather then using on computer ipad or laptop etc.

You wouldn't use one IP address for all stealth accounts as that would link them all so if one account went down through suspension they all would either straight away or over a short period of time

Each stealth account would have a different user account on your laptop and different IP address by your router having a dynamic ip or by using a dongle or another method that will give you a different IP address each time you log on

You can just create your own stealth accounts, why use your sisters account in US! No need for that, and if one of you gets suspended, the other gets suspended as well. Read around this forum and you will the right idea, there are plenty of good suggestions above for you also.

People do run stealth accounts from mobiles, better if you can to run from a laptop, again you need to get it straight in your head about how to run stealth accounts.

Yep...im one of them :lol:
Have quite a few on the go. Perfectly fine if operated correctly.

I want more in the future, just not now. Then will go down the pc route :-)

Calling in to raise limits has never been recommended - should have read posts before doing this.
