What motivates you to list more products?
 

Obviously selling them and making a profit is a high motivation but the past week or so I've been lacking with posting new listings and don't know how to motivate myself.

Just listed two items and I'm already fed up with it. Hopefully I'll snap out of it next week haha.

I normally list at the start of each month and because my limit is 100, then I alwys list 90 items. All singles, I don't sell many items that are the same.
What motivates me? Seeing my money triple.

It can be a bit tedious listing but its well worth it when you make that sale

Make it a job.
Start using a kitchen timer and do nothing but take pics, list, etc.. for 20 minutes at a time. Then do something else for 20 minutes and then come back to listing.

It is amazing how much you can actually list in 20 minutes if that is all you focus on during that time.
I hate listing myself and have for years. A few years ago I hired a girl to do nothing but take good pics and list to ebay and craigslist, etc.... with great pics and the name of the item in the title. I would then go and edit the titles for best keywords and write good descriptions. It worked for me at the time.

I also use travel time to do listings and edit them. I fly about 1 or 2 a month and the time I usually spend looking around at airports, I now spend on eBay listings.
I used to HATE listings stuff, especially because every single item that I sell is different and I hardly ever sell something that I have sold before. So with each listing I always write out a detailed description(Tired of 3 star ratings, **** that) and try to make it looks professional and neat.
I used to list maybe 3 items and then get angry and go do something else, but now I do majority of it when I'm on the road and I love the feeling that I get once it's all said and done.
I know that waiting in the airport is total waste of time, I mean total waste of time. But now I feel like it's the most productive time that I have because I have literally NOTHING else to do, so I'm super productive at airports.

Just find little pockets of time when to do it and don't force yourself to do it 6 hours straight.
Do LOADS of short stints rather than one big marathon.

Great post...ive kind of come to a standstill too..Completely lacking motivation.
Mind you, have had a rough few days.
I usually do my photos during the day and list at night as typically i want the auctions to end on an evening :-)

I am motivated in weeks like these, when my sales have been ridiculously low :pout:.
Which sometimes is better as I pull the 'finger out' and it benefits me on those good sale weeks - where I can get quite complacent.

@jako, if profits and money doesn't motivate you then perhaps eB sales arent for you....any other passions to consider?

I hate doing listings!
However like any job there are things we like and things we despise... So its all part of the game....

Listing items isn't the problem. For me it is the pictures. That is the super labor intensive part for the products I list.
