Is Google Voice a gamble?

I'm seeing mixed reviews on Google Voice when creating a stealth account. I would prefer to use it but does anyone know how to avoid getting axed via a Google Voice #? Or is the best option using a Tracfone?

Better option to use Tracfone - GV has been causing a ton of headaches for ppl on this forum reportedly.

I have never liked GV for creating accounts. I personally like tracfone much much better.

where do you find the cheap tracphones ? All I see is like 9.99 but the cheapest mins is 19.99 so ur paying 30 for every stealth attempt?

SilentHill 03-30-2015 03:26 PM

Re: Is Google Voice a gamble?

9.99 comes with free minutes. Enough for confirmation.

10 bucks doesn't seem to shabby.

Re: Is Google Voice a gamble?

GV is just a NONONO. Forget about it. Tracfones are the best.

Re: Is Google Voice a gamble?

Best Buy, Walgreens, local grocery stores. Phones come with 20 minutes and you can buy 3 months for $20. So that breaks down pretty cheap.

Re: Is Google Voice a gamble?

GV is tempting because its free, but it should be avoided. It became abused and flagged by ebay. It is worth the extra money to ensure your stealth account survives for years.

CVS is also a pretty good place to find tracfones, founds a bunch at my local cvs for 5 bucks

Amazon currently has $5 tracfones with free prime shipping, and $3 tracfones with add-on shipping

Can I bring tracfone from the US to Canada and use in Canada? Anyone know about its roaming service?

I tried today. It was good at the border with USA network but after leaving the border, the network signal still full but it said no service. Sadly Tracfone doesn't offer roaming in Canada.

For Amazon Tracfone links, the Triple minute Add-On $3 tracfone is linked above.

For the double minute, PRIME SHIPPING tracfone, click here

Re: Is Google Voice a gamble?

When you buy a trac phone do the initial 10 or however many minutes stay on it until they are all used up?

Edit: Found it. Initial minutes are good for 2 months. Then you have to keep buying new 20 min cards that will be good for 3 months and these run $20. It is important to keep adding minutes every 3 months and not letting the initial phone number expire because paypal might ask you to verify it at any time, like when trying to withdraw.

There is a way to safely add google voice but I'm afraid its my bread and butter

I recommend the tracfone method

I may risk the GV approach.

I just used it to create my stealth account today. I had to jump through some extra hoops----eBay made me verify my PayPal account with a Credit Card and Bank account---but it worked! Total stealth account cost: 5.25 (for VCC)

Risky indeed - not worth it but best of luck on the experiment and follow-up report

I personally think that google voice is okay. Never had any problem with it. Always get 5/500 though. But never 0/0, and neither above 5/500.

Wait until the holiday season, 0/0s will make a comeback and GV accounts will be hit the hardest.

Why risk it? A real phone isn't very expensive...

Re: Is Google Voice a gamble?

i would save the preferable choice would be a physical phone or TracFone! Yes I have use Google voice before and it has been fine as well!

You plan on using Google voice u need to disable automatic call feature for people to speak there name because that will be a dead giveaway! And record your own name for a greeting which will make the phone number see more legit if eBay or PayPal happens to call.

I use Google Voice on all my Stealth accounts.

People say it's been flagged, abused, etc. Where's the evidence?

I see threads everyday about account shutdowns, some members claim to have done everything by the recommendation, tracfones, fresh, dedicated VPN, real bank accounts, etc, and others use "shortcuts".

Either way, the general attitude seems to be that your days are limited.

I have yet to see evidence that Google Voice is bad. How did you come to this conclusion? I've CALLED EBAY using GV and received increases.

I'm not claiming GV isn't known by eBay, but please, show me the evidence.

GV seems ok, I keep 2 Amazon accounts registered with GV and they are still there.

Re: Is Google Voice a gamble?

You can always use Virgin Mobile 20$ monthly plan? No one ever seems to mention this option but if you plan on using it for a strong account its worth the price.

You can even add the phone number in your listings to generate higher sales and WAY better customer service. Its a win win. I guarantee you will get a sale you wouldn't have without it to cover the 20$ monthly cost.

Would definitely recommend tracfone to start accounts. I have let the number expire after about a year of good standing with eBay/PP and switched to GV. I definitely would not start accounts using GV.

I've noticed it's less hassle to use a Tracfone to start accounts, you get 0/0 FAR less often. Personally, as soon as I get my account set up, I change it to GV, so that I can change the Tracfone # and use it to set up more accounts (and get more GV #s)
