Ebay or Paypal able to track MAC address?

I've read the stealth book and went through the forums but still a bit confused. At the bottom of the eBay page, it shows a link that says cookies. I clicked it and read through it. It states that they have ability to get the device used info and a unique ID. Are they referring to the MAC address on the actual computer? I know many people on here say eBay cannot read your MAC address but another member made a solid case that they can read it if you installed a java applet for use in printing labels directly through eBay. I used to print that way and installed a java applet. Does anyone on here know for sure if eBay can see a computers MAC address or not? If installing java applet for printing enables them to see MAC of the actual device, many people will get linked to old accounts without realizing it.

I have seen the exact same posts as you have, it is all regarding az and not ebay anyway...and I believe nobody can see your mac without additional software running....so maybe change the way you print, someone may have a method they can post, it may be more time-consuming but....

Not known if EB uses such opportunity, but technically Java applet can see your MAC.

When you log in to a Starbucks Hotspot it shows your mac address in the navigation bar as part of the landing page site address.

Neither Ebay nor Amazon can see MAC addresses, they are a long way from being able to do that, this has been confirmed many many times in the forum previously, using the search box on this page will verify that point as well.

Their WiFi router has a special software installed, that displays you the webpage with your MAC address. They know it only because you are connected directly to the router.

Why would you use a Starbucks hotspot anyhow? Way too many ppl might have used it

Another post where I tip my hand and show how sloppy I am when it comes to stealth:

If you think that they're banning everyone that has ever logged into an eB account from a Starbucks you're wrong.

Nobody know for sure about this one, but I believe they can. However, the only mac they can track is the mac address of your device that connect directly to the Internet. If you use a VPN service, then your router mac is safe.

Re: Ebay or Paypal able to track MAC address?

If they could read MAC addresses like that hodgesdavid stealth would be impossible apart from VPN's, which it clearly isn't, accounts are surviving and thriving.

Re: Ebay or Paypal able to track MAC address?

eBay and PayPal cannot read MAC address, much in the same way Amazon cannot read MAC addresses.

Do you have evidence to suggest that they can?

I don't know but I have a strong feeling about it. I believe that they can obtain more information than we can think of right now.

No, not straightforward. But let me ask you a question. What about local IP address (a.k.a LAN IP a.k.a Internal IP address)? Something similar to 192.168.1.2 or 10.0.0.2 or 172.16.0.4 (you can find yours by open up command prompt, type ipconfig then enter), which is something that is clearly reside BEHIND your mac address that facing the internet. Can ebay reveal it?

Re: Ebay or Paypal able to track MAC address?

Strong feeling is not really the evidence we use on the forum... If you really feel that they can see the MAC address then maybe its something worth researching :thumb:

Seeing an internal IP address, I am not sure how that would help eBay tbh. They are only interested in your external IP address.

I'm working on that one.

I'm not sure how it help either, but something I know for sure is if we follow the stealth guide to create a new user account for each of your stealth account, they will still have one thing in common, the LAN IP address.

Re: Ebay or Paypal able to track MAC address?

Nearly all internal IP addresses for nearly all devices will be 192.168.x.x so its not really going to be much use to eBay if they could see it.

Exactly. But the fact that HTTP request can reveal internal IP (which is pretty much shocking to me) trigger a big question in my head. How hard it is for them to obtain a mac address too?

Where are you gettting this information from? There's no way a external website can know your internal IP unless it's reported by some sort of "external program" running on your computer, such as an ActiveX component or Java Applet. These types of programs requires explicit permission from the user to run, and they cannot simply run on their own without the user knowing about them. The same applies with MAC address. A simple webpage cannot retrieve such information because it's too low level for any ordinary webpage to access.

I really hope so my friend, unfortunately it's not.

This is a google search for the news. Enjoy the reading.

This url is belong to someone at github for demonstration purpose. You can block activeX, flash plug in, or java applet or even uninstall them all completely. All you need is web browser. Even browser plug in can't prevent it to happen.

The search results are completely irrelevent. They're all bug reports for bugs within IIS servers which has been patched already. As an average user, your computer doesn't have IIS installed and running anyways.

Now this one's interesting. I looked into the WebRTC implementation of Chrome and Firefox, and found nothing that can actually jeprodise your identity. The WebRTC API is essentially used for multimedia streaming, and doesn't really pose any danger to you. Sometimes the internal IP is needed to bypass NAT so media can be streamed properly. As many others have mentioned, knowing your internal IP is completely meaningless for tracking.

And that is really the important point.

Internal IP address are just no use to eBay or PayPal. Everyone will have basically the same internal IP
