PayPal Allowed To Work With Amazon Following eBay Split - Forbes

Forever hoping I can sell on Amazon and accept Paypal...

Says towards the bottom that they're on track to split in Q3/Q4 this year

I dont see why Amazon would ever let that happen tbh. Takes the funds out of their control

Yeah, I'm sure Paypal is just itching to start dealing with complaints of ⊗⊗⊗⊗ and counterfeit merchandise from Aliexpress...

This will all be very interesting. But I don't see Amazon working with PayPal. I don't think people are afraid to put their cards on file with Amazon. For Amazon to agree to start using PayPal, there would have to be some tangible benefit to Amazon and I just don't see it.

The article says that eBay will be free to accept alternative payment systems. But I don't see them as being in any great rush to do so. It COULD happen, and they probably WILL have some more alternatives eventually, but don't look for it immediately after the split.

As to who PayPal might deal with, who knows? While the agreement prohibits PayPal from starting its own online marketplace for 5 years, I can see them partnering with Alibaba or DHGate, where PayPal would be the payment method for a marketplace crated by one of the Chinese companies here in the US. Of course it would be a separate market, like TaoBao and it would not be the new counterfeit capital of the world.

But I could be totally wrong about everything. ANYTHING can happen!
