Default Turning OFF US EBAY Auto Return Process

So, I get rather annoyed with the ebay auto return process. This is where the buyer can start a return without you even having to acknowledge it. They opt to return the item and ship it out to your stealth address. This bothers me because these are addresses that I do not have access to. So I thought I would layout instructions for those that wasnt aware or knew how to turn this process off, so the buyer will have to contact you before returning.
1) (click on) Account Tab
2) (click on) Site Preferences
3) (scroll to) Return Preferences
4) (click on) Edit
5) Do you want to use eBay's return process? (click on) No
6) (click on) Save Changes

Yep, it's yet another timely thread.

Essential to control your own ebay account as much as possible.

Set whatever paramaters needed to keep on top of good selling.

Let nothing happen by chance.

Unbelievable that ebay would create this program. Thanks for showing us step by step how to disable it

HONESTLY it was the worst mistake I ever made and I do believe that is what started the spiral down of my account - all of a sudden I had these horrid people from all over the place doing returns after using my items for a couple of weeks - it was the worst thing they could have ever done.

They don't care about hardships they put on sellers. That's why Global Shipping is automatically checked on new listings unless you uncheck it. That's why Best Offer is automatically checked. That's why automated returns are already programmed unless you go through the pain in arse steps to uncheck it. It all makes ebay look like this great place to buyers, but it is not at ebay's expense. Instead it is at their seller's expense, whom they have no problem whoring out, killing off, then replacing with the next piece of fresh meat.

If your sales are high and customers are happy this is a headache less to deal with. Yes you get a defect, however again if sales are high then defects not much of an issue.

Then of course the use and abuse customers who make returns 29days after sale. Cant stand them, but its a low percentage.

Seems to not be an option anymore. Only options now are creating basic return paramaters

On UK - I was supposed to opt in or so I thought, until I got my first managed return.

It gives options on case to accept return, send message, partial refund etc...however even if you do not press anything it seems the buyer gets their postage label option regardless.

one good thing though is the £2.99 label the buyer gets option to buy - way cheaper for heavy items than they would have to pay retail. That part could help your ratings and contented buyer...maybe...

thing is the game of having a returns address on file and then messaging a different one to buyer via eb messages...I dont know, it seems a slip up that could mess up an account.

however shorage of different returns addresses that are accessible IS a big problem....

YES!! best offer and global have to uncheck each time...annoying

Ebay overcharge for global shipping costs on the way to buyer.
They overcharge for a lightweight thin domestic return label on managed returns.
but they under-charge for returns label for a heavy item up to 10kg on managed returns...

I agree, the amount of change of mind idiots that cannot read simple meaurements and then do not worry that seller loses money, as they may get item back, but they lost out on the shipping charge, which sometimes is more than the profit would have been....I think change of mind returns should EXCLUDE outgoing shipping costs....
