| | | agag2 | 04-17-2015 03:02 AM | Getting Higher Selling Limits on EBay? Hi
I am about to call EBay to get higher selling limits for my stealth account (currently has 10/1000 limit). I understand I am running a bit of a risk by doing this but I'm willing to take the risk.
When I call EBay will ask me what I sell? What my selling goals are? My supplier? And so on..
From experience, does anyone know what the best answer to these questions are (if there is a best answer..)?
And what should be avoided..
Thanks MOD NOTE - PLEASE NOTE THIS THREAD IN RELATION TO EBAY US |
| Speeder33 | 04-17-2015 04:00 AM | Re: Getting Higher Selling Limits on EBay? They usually won't throw you softball questions like this for a limit raise on a new account. They'll try to ask you public ID questions, but since it is a stealth account, no questions will be generated.
Once you fail those questions, they will most likely ask you to send in documents |
| GreenBean | 04-17-2015 04:05 AM | Re: Getting Higher Selling Limits on EBay? Going to take the risk but not sure of what will happen?
Come play poker with me. I'll strip you of your money.
How old is the account?
Amount of feedback?
and a most critical question: what is the back up plan when the call goes wrong?
:juggle: |

You will get limit increases if you sell to your limits each month |

Thanks | Based on this post alone, I'd STRONGLY suggest you NOT calling them. I don't feel that you know exactly what you are doing and risking by doing so. |
| timber | 04-17-2015 07:21 AM | Re: Getting Higher Selling Limits on EBay? your choice
call >> take the chance of losing the account
don't call >> continue selling
I suggest you open at least a couple more accounts and wait for your limits to increase automatically.
looks like you are going to take the chance and call even tho all the reply's here suggested that it is not to wise to call them, so i wish you luck.
I have never called and never will....the increases will come in time.
if your in that much of a hurry, there are accounts here for sale at very reasonable prices with very nice selling limits all set up for you. |
Re: Getting Higher Selling Limits on EBay? timber makes the good point about opening few more accounts and spreading sales. Let the accounts grow naturally - why risk problems with a call? |
| mufc365 | 04-17-2015 02:16 PM | Re: Getting Higher Selling Limits on EBay? If you have a good history of selling with at least 10 feedbacks or more and the last increase was more than a month ago there's a good chance they will increase it.
Go through the live chat option rather than ringing your increase will be granted as long as you know how to be persuasive.
They will transfer you to the specialised team that handles this. |

The live chat option is great they hardly ask you any of that and increase the limits quite easily |

Thanks | Personally, I say call them. Your choice is either:
A. Live with 10 items per month indefinitely.
Or
B. Call and either get an increase or get shut down.
Personally, I wouldn't give a damn about losing a 10 items per month account, but that's me. You know how to stealth, it's not difficult to create a new account. The boogieman just isn't that scary. |

Ever thought that it may cause others a loss of sleep?
Preferable to make stealth accounts to last and flourish.
Mine work like that and it's nice to sleep well at night.
That's the way i do business. Create stealth accounts that grow naturally & have limits increased without needing to speak to the devil.

It's a FORUM. The word comes from the Latin word fórum and literally means "a gathering place".
You assume that your opinion is that of everyone else, unfortunately you are wrong.
The OP asked a question, and we, the other members here, are giving our opinion. Creating stealth accounts is easy, and there is no "right" way to get increased selling limits on eBay. I personally just posted the other day asking about it, was advised to not call in, called in, and received an increase.
I understand that for an established selling account, calling in is an unnecessary risk, HOWEVER, for new accounts, the only thing on the line is your time. |
| GreenBean | 04-17-2015 09:00 PM | Re: Getting Higher Selling Limits on EBay? Only one assuming person thus far here and that's you, Ghost.
After years of amking stealth accounts, i know what works long term for me and is cost effective in terms of the business I want to do.
Purpose of this gathering place is to allow newbies to see effective alternatives and find out how to 'do stealth'.
Gung ho it does not matter if you lose an account insults person's IQs. |

Why does it hurt your ego to accept that there are alternate ways of doing stealth?
What works for you is not for everyone. Stealth is not one size fits all.
I can create accounts in 10 minutes. All I have to lose by calling eBay is my time. If you create a brand new account and it gets shut down, you lose 10 minutes.
Unless you know the OP personally, it is incredibly arrogant to assume you know what he or she is willing to risk. In fact, the OP said (and I quote) "I understand I am running a bit of a risk by doing this but I'm willing to take the risk."
That is all. |
| dallis | 04-17-2015 09:09 PM | Re: Getting Higher Selling Limits on EBay? What's with this crazy obsession with huge limits that drives people to make bad choices?
If you can't sell to your limit, what's the point of asking for more?
If you do sell close to your limit, you'll likely get pretty nice increases most every month until you begin to top out and sell-through falls off.
I have a new account, 5/500, sold 4 in the first 15 days, WHAM! First increase came at day 20. Pretty normal. I'll sell close to my new limit and get another bump within another 30 days.
Sell-through rate is the key to limit increases and increased exposure. You're way better off to have list 20 and sell 15 than list 100 and sell 15.
EB would rather promote somebody with a 75% sell-through rate than somebody with a 15% sell-through. 75% sell-through makes them more money for the bandwidth than 15% sell-through.
And there's a lot less work for you in selling 15 out of 20 than there is in selling 15 out of 100. |

I know what I did, I know it worked, and I'm not going to lie and tell everyone else that alternative methods don't exist or work, when I've tested them and been successful. I am NOT reccomending anyone call eBay to request increases if they have an established account. But as I keep saying, there is NOTHING to lose on a brand new account.
If you can't understand that, I'm sorry. |

Thanks | What I have personally expereinced is as follows:
They will attempt to run your name through their database. It will of course, come back without results. They will comment on this, and either:
Ask you to further verify your account (through documents, or via adding a bank account to PayPal, in my case). OR
They will ask:
Where do you get your inventory? (Say that it's personal stuff from around your house)
How do you ship/how soon do you ship? Tell them you will be printing labels from home, your friend is helping you and giving you advise, he/she is a Powerseller and encouraged you to try eBay.
etc. The questions they ask are less important than the impression you give them.
Generally just act like you're trying to get on the eBay bandwagon. MOST reps are sympathetic, and if you give them the impression that you're an honest person trying to get rid of stuff lying around the house, they're usually understanding.
There are NO guarantees with stealth. Proceed at your own risk, but don't let others tell you it's impossible. This forum was created by someone who bucked the trends. |

Is this advice you are prepared to make standard for users form overseas who need to use VPS & have issues with US bank accounts?
Is that included in your brilliance about having nothing to lose on a brand new account?
I think not.
A user spending, say $30 to make an account, should also try to consider not wasting that money but rather allowing the account to be nutured to recoup the funds. Such funds can be used to make more accounts.
Repeatedly staying at Square One is foolish. |

Apparently you think everyone who reads this forum is stupid, and can't do a risk/reward calculation in their head.
I don't share that opinion.

Don't tell them someone is helping you, this will create issues , and they will start digging in to find out who the person is and if they were previously restricted.
They want to hear that you are selling on your own with no help, don't complicate things, it will lead to issues with some reps |

I said tell them you're getting advice from a powerseller. The rep will NOT ask you their eBay ID. They aren't going to dig that deep in a 3 minute call.

| i have called plenty of times ^^^ always happens one way or the other I had my girl for hers she just created and I for another just created within like two hours of each other (these were 0/0 limits).......nothing to lose....she was asked for documents....I was awarded 25/1250.....on an established stealth I called in cuz it was 5/500 ....felt like nothing to lose.....I got awarded but right after before I listed it was suspended indef........I needed a back up plan....back up plans are other stealth accts......if I could rewind I would probably think about trying .....but I wont why because : Nothing last Forever U need a back up plan those are other stealths allllllllll the time
and dig this if I kept my 5/500 one and also made these others like I have been
then I could sell my 5 on that one
and ..... yes I said and
sell more on the others gaining stealth education and more hopes for increases
we all want to sell more and while u are making money still create more help from that line of profit coming in.....u are already accustomed to this money so get more help on another account and nuture that one to make you more....
MY two cents....again nothing last forever and don't fix if it isn't broken
not a complete RIGHT way to do a stealth ....but there are guidelines......which u can ignore at your own discretion.....hopefully luck is on your side....preparation meets opportunity=luck.....
when I call in if they cant find me they sometimes ask for another address more or less trying to see if there is a googlable address with right zips....I fumbled on this a few times once I gave them my old address growing up they approved it .....but be sure you have :
birthdate
phone number
2 addresses
name of your ebay user
and good luck on your side The questions they ask are less important than the impression you give them.<~~~~~real talk
I hate when I call in and they sound like the fukin model employee....don't keep hanging up after they know its you and your calling for increases the bots pick up on that.... |

So yes, of course there are more "horror stories" about those who have called than those who have not.
I'd bet my money that there are more horror stories of men who have approached women and asked them on a date than not as well, because when you choose to do nothing, nothing happens!

@GhostofAmazon It is naive to sit and tell members it is okay to call when there are an uncounted number of times people have ruined accounts for this reason. ESPECIALLY in the USA.
So maybe search the forum BEFORE giving out such advice on this topic.
(*The clue is also in the fact that there are more people against doing this than for it)
Not every rep is as nice as you think they are, otherwise surely you would not have joined this forum a month ago.
Not every person is comfortable, confident and quick thinking on the phone.
All that needs to happen is the ebay rep asks the wrong question and then BAM your account is gone.
Because with your comments, you will not just have the new sellers calling in but people who have actually started to age and build accounts.
and honestly, clearly you joined this forum because you to also need help on Amazon and Ebay, so i would suggest you take a calmer approach to people on the forum, rather than jumping on your high horse about such small things, because one day your turn will come when you need answers to such questions and no one will want to help you. |

I joined to learn how to create multiple eBay accounts with ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info. I have been selling on eBay since 2009, and I have called in once per month on every account to increase my limits since the beginning. I have made several stealth accounts using my method since starting here.

I have made it very clear that my method involves risks, however, I leave it up to the individual to read the forums, edudcate themselves, and make their own decisions.

What I have said is that there is more than one way to do stealth. I have offered an alternative way of viewing and operating new eBay accounts. You are the ones who are militant and dogmatic, stating there is only one "correct" way to do stealth. THIS IS NOT TRUE.
I trust that people reading these boards have the intellectual capacity to make their own decisions based on their own research of these forums. |
