Bank account for minors
 

When you guys have signed up online for bank accounts, have any of you caught your eye on any banks that allow 17 year olds to sign up? Or notice any banks that have college "Student accounts"? Usually have to be 17-24 years old for those. I do have a college ID.

Just looking to sign up for a few banks fast preferably online for Paypal to withdrawal funds.

I've tried to go in person banks that accept 17+ year olds for individual accounts in town and, even after online research, they claim I'm wrong and reject me. IMO, new workers not wanting to deal with the extra paperwork or just clueless.

Did the bank say why you didn't qualify? Did you have an account with a problem in the past?

Age was the qualification that I didn't meet.

I have a local credit union right down the street.. I didn't even think about them.

But I thought I read on the forum that local banks/credit unions sometimes have problems with different names on deposits?

Approached carefully ( and with care from you), there should not be issues.

I have several USA credit union accounts. I made sure the application was close to the paypal name *coughs*

Signing up for a bank not in my name? Don't you have to bring ID's when setting up the account?

I opened my first bank account at Bank of America when I was about 16-17. My father was there with me though. Here's a link to their option for students: https://www.bankofamerica.com/studen...ngs-account.go

I also know that Citibank offers student accounts (or at least they used to; can't find anything on their website), as does Chase (https://www.chase.com/checking/student-checking).

In most cases you can have a student bank account until around 23-24.

All the High School around town where I live have a Credit Union inside for students
