Paypal Demand of Tax ID.
 

Hi Guys.
So paypal demanded my Tax ID, when I tried to upgrade to a Business account I got a "cannot upgrade since your account is limited"
Limitation prob being that I need to provide the tax id number

"You can't upgrade your account to a business account because it is limited. We'll help you resolve the issue.

I am no too happy to call them since my S&^&^th account is on a women name.

Seriously, what's up with this catch 22? I went and opened a new business account and they're requesting under the PATRIOT Act that more personal information be provided. What's the deal with that? Just call them and get this done with?

Your not supposed to open a business account upon sign up that's why.

You must open personal and wait for them to request tax info and this is only when you bypass them asking that. Read up on this subject. It's been widely discussed on the forum..

Correct. Now when they request the tax info and you are a personal account holder, they state "we will prompt you to upgrade to a business account" when you provide an EIN.

When prompted, it then states "you cannot upgrade to business account because we need your Tax ID information."

Hence the catch 22.

Enter the EIN number for both the SS and EIN if you get stuck in the loop.

You can call paypal and get out of this situation. Make sure you know your name and address when you call. I also keep my date of birth and address in front of me as well.

So why don't you provide the EIN?

I'm confused...

Just call them like yankee said. They ONLY need 1 unless they request for both which they technically can but for tax purposes they ONLY need 1.
