"Vanilla" is a type of card. You can purchase these at Wal-mart, Wal-Greens, Krogers, etc.
OP, if I was in your position, I will opt for the Vanilla option. A lot stealth users in the US have personally told me entropay has been a dead end for them. So use it with caution if you do decide to go ahead with it. In the UK however, it works a charm.

A lot of people say Allybank doesn't work. Or calling eBay. Yet on both examples, veteran members (people other than myself) have stated they use these consistently without issue.
If someone is having an issue with Entropay, it's something they are messing up. Entropay works like a charm.
OP is talking about a new Amazon account.
Recent posts seem to indicate that Vanilla no longer works for Amazon.
Whoops! Yup, there it is "AZ".
My bad, OP! Vanilla might not work. Try local credit unions. Google "Prepaid visa gift card (your town)" and see what comes up! Some of them over much better deals than your typical Vanilla card anyways!
