Do you NEED to put an SSN and DOB in now?
 

Used to be you could refresh / relog / etc. but now it seems you NEED to put last four of SSN and DOB in to continue to your account?

depends on what happened to it

if you are at the level where they are demanding tax info due to the 200/20k limit, then the last 4 of an EIN has been tested to work

but since they are asking DOB, you likely killed the account for good.

I'm talking about fresh / new accounts. After creating the account it now directs to a page to 'Verify Identity' requiring the last four of SSN and DOB. You used to be able to just refresh or relogin and it would be gone, but now it's there no matter what.

Can confirm they have fixed it, the page is now perpetual.

Maybe the page will go away in a few days? I don't know, only time will tell.

I've had accounts occasionally ask for it, but that's after making a LOT of accounts. Scrap it and create another one?

I've tried five so far today, all of them have requested it :( Using the same creation methods I've always used, fresh business accounts.

any particular reason you're going business account vs personal account?

In the past, before this SSN/DOB seemed to occur, I was doing it to avoid the 21 day holds and using an EIN. On personal accounts can you avoid the 21 day holds?

Every accounts get 21 days hold.
Now, some don't have that hold for few transactions.

All accounts have the 21 day hold. You can remove it pretty easily by following the instructions. It will make the account stronger anyway and make you look like less of a risk

Hmm so what's the difference between personal and business? Does personal not ask for SSN & DOB?

this is only a requirement for business accounts. Personal you are not required. As of yet.

Eventually, once you hit certain selling thresholds Paypal will ask for an EIN or SSN to upgrade your account to a business account. Better to be ahead of that limitation IMO.

I freaked out with 2500$ + today with the persistent page. I'll call them and just have them manually withdraw funds, because other than that, the account receives fine.

That being said, this makes it much harder to rotate paypal accounts. I have 3-5 year old stealths that do 35k for the year between 2 accounts, i don't do it to avoid paying taxes (paid A LOT the last 2 years). I do it more so, so that my accountant doesn't ask a million questions on why is there fictious names connected to a IRS end of the year form (that paypal gives). I just keep it simple.

That is bull, i just made two accounts dint enter a single ssn. You are over thinking it. Try again

I add vcc, then if i have vba ready i add that then proceed to the summary to complete the other fields. That is it, has not changed

Last 4 of EIN and any date for the DOB- making sure that the age is over 18 years.

I was on the phone with paypal when I was creating my business account and ran into this problem.

The rep told me it is a new thing.... refreshing the page WILL NOT WORK. The DOB is only to make sure that the user is over 18 years of age.

I've had my new paypal account for over a month now.... about 20 sales so far... ebay transactions subject to 21 day hold...but other than that...nothing weird.

So just put last 4 of EIN opposed to SSN?

I didn't want to post in the public forum, but i found a way around the perpetual page, or else i would of been a little bit more freaked out yesterday. You just install the paypal app for iphone/android and it let me withdraw money and that page didn't show up.

Sounds like i'll add the 4 of the ein and birthday so i can use the PC to withdraw in the future..This is a relief :) Glad this was moved to sub forum



edit.. can confirm last 4 of EIN and birthday and address worked.
