Total future need for phone access
 

Hi, Im wondering what possible reasons I will need access to a phone number beyond initial verification. For instance, if I start selling with ebay, will they call and want to talk to me after a certain $$$? Is there any reason I should need to continue service on a phone beyond the first pre-paid amount on it?

Ebay and paypal can choose to verify your account for any reason they see fit at any point.
Sell something risky and they might do it. Try to withdraw funds from paypal and they might do it. Change devices and login to your accounts and they'll definitely do it.

So do you guys keep phones active for the life of the attached accounts?

I do, at least for my most valuable accounts.

sometimes eBay calls and gives you 48 hours to return the call or the account is shut down. This has happened to me before. You need to be able to call from the number you used for verification.

You are going to want to keep the phone number active.

You often need in the US for PayPal as well as eBay well beyond the acconut creation date

even adding a bank account, paypal will sometimes want to verify the ORIGINAL phone number.

Crap. Then I gotta ditch these $40/mo sims that came with a few bucks on them. Im not paying $40/mo for each account. Hope its not a big deal to swap numbers on new accounts.
