Default PP seeing name on bank account

I had read somewhere that a PP employee could do a hard look, meaning a human. At the name on the bank account. I also read that if you transfer money from your bank account (for a transaction) to PP they could see the name on the account. Anyone know? Thanks

They can only see your name if you attempt to transfer money from your bank account to your paypal. If you're transferring money from your paypal to your bank account, they don't see your name. All paypal can see is the account number, and the name they have on file which is SUPPOSED to be on the account.

For this reason I prefer my accounts be bank verified using the instant verification - as opposed to the 2 day deposit method - because those 2 deposits are than pulled back to paypal along with the name of the account holder.

Wow. I'd never considered that, but that's an excellent point. I've always been afraid to use the instant verification because I've always assumed that would get me linked.

You've never had any problems with that?

verification is verification..

Now, has anyone ever lost an account over paypal bank withdrawals? I have never heard of this on this forum and oftentimes I pay my fees this way and have not had any issues plus the micro deposits being retrieved etc...

You haven't heard about lots of things in this forum, some people are just too paranoid, as an example people are frustrated about images in emails from ebay/amazon >.<

I've only had that concern about instant verification because my bank account is in my real name. I've clicked the option before and it basically opens a BofA (I use BofA, I don't know if other banks do the same thing) iFrame inside of the paypal window. So my assumption has always been that Paypal can gather a lot more real information from you that way. Since you're basically logging into your mobile banking account from Paypal.

I pay all of my fees from my paypal account using the "one-time payment" option. I don't like Paypal touching any of my bank accounts, even if there is no threat of linking. But that's just me.

Call me paranoid.. but I like my accounts to last, lol..

yankee,
I agree there aren't many reports about issues due to the 2 day deposit method.
This doesnt mean this cannot become an issue.
The way I see it this can only makes things worse in case of a manual review. Its just another piece of info to get your account in trouble and if it can be avoided altogether then why not.

Back in 2007, aspkin suggested instant verification for payal.
Used the method ever since without problems

Bear in mind that bank transfers are processed by a department within paypal.
Name difference would not be noticed unless account was being checked by a totally different department.

When paypal does an ACH. They cannot see the account info. If they did. A lot more account closure would be happening and this would be tons of threads on this.
The only banks I have seen who have name of the deposit would be wells fargo so far. This from PP to Wells Fargo. If Wells does not care about that I doubt PP would. PP would being closing a lot more accounts and we would being seeing a lot more threads about it.

Well I certainly appreciate the insight. I guess I will put my paranoia aside on my next account and give instant verification a try.

Just out of curiosity, do other banks handle instant verification the same way BofA does? Do you get an iframe from your bank inside your paypal window?

Just for clarification, what details do banks see from PP when transferring money to your bank?

Just acc no?

Full PP name they have?

Address?

A PP ref no?

Other info?

As I understood PP only gives a ref no that they take part of your name and add it to a number, ie If the PP name is say Max Mackezy, then would have a ref ID like MACK-000004993774

Is this correct?

I believe the banks just see the full name that paypal gave them not the address etc

Interesting. Ive always used the 2 deposits method because the instant asks you to give the login creds for your bank account to PP, and I assumed they could then see ALL accounts you have with that bank, your name, etc etc, just as you can if you log in.

I had not considered the withdrawal giving them your ID. It makes sense, Ive had no problem with accounts using a name variation but Ive had 6/6 closures when I try to use a random name. Couldnt figure out what was going on there, but 4 of them got into a bank verification loop and when I called in they looked up my 15 year history to ask questions.... except of course they didnt find "Richard Long" at the mail forwarding address.

When paypal sends money to your bank account, they send the name of the person and (if bank requests it) they can provide address on file

At some point a person will do a manual review and then they see mismatched names if you transfer into PP.

Once you get passed 1 million dollars in sales expect a call from PP accounting department verifying just about everything.

I have to make a new pp account and saw this thread and surprised me to read that the 2 small deposits paypal makes for account verification may allow paypal to see your real name on your bank account when they withdraw them.

So would it be advised not to use the 2-deposits anymore and to use the instant verification instead?. Not sure if the instant one is avalaible in my country Spain, tho. I have not noticed it but have not made many accounts. In ES site you enter the bank acc and, after that, then click confirm acc it takes you directly to another page stating they will send you the 2 deposits. Maybe instant verification is a feature only avalaible for US PP?.

What does instant verification consist of exactly in opposition to the 2 small deposits?.
